Negotiating new mobile deals with Vodafone

Hi guys,

My plan is about to expire with Virgin Mobile and I am thinking about getting the new Note 5 with Vodafone. My wife also needs a new phone and thinking about bringing mum over as well. Just wanted to know if I can negotiate a better deal with them.

Here is what I am thinking.
Galaxy note 5 on $85 plan
Huawei P8 on $50 plan
$30 month to month for mum

This will give me and my wife 9gb of data to share as mum won't use any. But she can still have unlimited national and international calls to the countries that she calls often being NZ, UK, USA and India. It's an amazing deal for her.

The total will be $165 per month. I can get the contracts through cash rewards and possibly get $100 cash back for 2 of the plans.

Can I do any better than that by calling them or visiting the store.

Thanks guys

If you're not an existing Vodafone customer, no chance.

  • Call up Virgin Mobile, tell them you want to bail, see whether the Customer Retention team can match Voda's offer.
They normally have deals that the normal Sales team do not have access to.

    • I thought about that but I am really interested in unlimited calls to few of the overseas countries that Vodafone offers. Virgin offers 300 minutes but we will be using more than that.

  • Well the $30 starter kits with $600 worth of calls+ 1 gig data have now become infinite talk + 1.5gb data from what I can tell. Not bad considering I paid around $10 each for them.

They also seem to have resolved the problem with calling/sms Telstra mobile numbers, now that was bloody annoying.

  • Quick update guys,

I managed to get little bit off, not too much but still a good deal overall for me.

    Galaxy note 5 - $80/month - They took off $5/month handset repayment
    HTC M8s - $36/month - They took 10% off the plan
Sim only $30 plan - this is just normal price

All of us will have unlimited calls to Australia, NZ, India, UK and USA. Total of 11.5 GB 4G data to share.

Over the 2 years, the total savings will be about $216. Still better than ordering it through the website at normal RRP. I talked to someone over the phone and he was super helpful.

    Thanks

  • I talked to the first guy who was nice but said he can't do any more than couple of bucks off. He then said that he will get another department to call me who have access to slightly better discounts. The second guy call me back in about half an hour and offered those prices. He was very nice and professional to deal with so I didn't push any harder than what he already gave me. I might have got little bit more off but was happy with savings a couple of hundred over the life of the contract.

    Hope this helps.

  • I tried bargaining with Telstra and Optus but they wouldn't budget. For someone else. Who has been on telstra since the iPhone 4 came out and is still paying $60 per month for it. In hunting for a good deal on the 6Plus or the 6sPlus. More interested in Vodafone as they offer unlimited international calls to op's countries.
