Cheap large TV (55"+)

Looking at getting a cheap large TV with a decent panel used for Xbox gaming. Cheapest one i could find was JB's Soniq 55" @ $799. Anything else worth a look?

JB's deals are probably the best day-to-day, but perhaps you can find another at cheaper price during sales.

That Soniq was $799 normal price a year ago. I've seen it for $699 on sale.

  • ALDI had 4k UHD 65" around $1200 few days back

    • Sale starts Saturday IIRC

      • oh sale starting this Saturday. i might grab one of them. Not too bad for that price if they can last for couple of years ? do you reckon ?

4K is useless for Xbox gaming.

      • Y so ? better than Full HD ?

Consoles can barely do 1080p games.

Also, it's dubious why anyone would want a 4K TV for non-gaming needs, as there just isn't any content. But that's another topic …

      • So? It's still a good deal on a 65" tv, regardless of whether the specs are higher than necessary.

Still costs more than a 1080p 65inch TV, which is all OP wants.

        • Point is, for $1200, you could get a much better picture from a good brand 1080p TV or projecter.

Until most of your content is in 4k, you're wasting money on a number and getting a significantly inferior experience.

@StickMan: Ok well where can I get this sub-$1200 FHD 65" TV then? I genuinely want to know as I've been looking recently and I haven't found anything close to this price point.

          @ilikeradiohead: You're right!

Looks like between 'smart TV' and 3D and 4K, dumb TV panels at that size don't exist!

So yes, if you're after a huge panel, that 65in 4K is great value.

  • No aldi in SA. Excludes that one

  • This goes on sale tomorrow, $987 plus $100 cash card (Eftpos I assume), smart TV and 3 year warranty http://www.lasoo.com.au/catalogue/score-a-bonus-deal-/53zdh1…

  • You can pre-order the Aldi t.v for next month 13 25 34 and i am pretty sure they have a 3 month return policy if not happy with product. Same price as before.
