Toshiba 42" Full HD 100Hz LCD for $1397 with Free Netbook (RRP $699) + $20 P&H Via Redemption

340

Hi,

I saw this in the junk mail the other day and thought it sounded like a good deal. I'm not sure the model on the netbook, but even if you get $400 back for it on eBay, makes it a damn good TV for under a grand.

Free netbook link:

Expires this Sunday (10/01/2010). Website reports still has 4200 units left.

[EDIT] Netbook offer extended until 31/01/2010

  • good deal. I couldn't find the model but the specs are:
    • Intel® Atom Processor
    • Genuine Windows® 7 Starter
    • 10.1” LED Backlit screen
    • 250GB Hard Drive
    • 1GB DDR2 533 RAM
    • USB Sleep and Charge
    • 3D Motion Impact Sensor
    • Full Sized Keyboard
    • being a toshiba they'll probably load it with Google toolbar and other useless crap for free!!!

Also, http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/home has this advertised and say there are 4244 of these netbooks left.

  • Had a browse, and i think the Netbook is this one;

    http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/products/notebooks/nbseries/nb20…

Specs are provided above by Radar.

P.S. yeah seems you get Google Toolbar for "free"..

  • If you have an RACQ membership you also get 12% off the ticket price of everything at the Good Guys which brings the TV down to $1229.36.

    Good deal.

EDIT: Called up the Loganholme store and they said they have 2 left and when I asked about the RACQ discount they refused it and didn't even give a reason. I was under the impression the discount was on the ticketed price and you couldn't use the discount if you haggled a cheaper price but paying full store price is apparantly still not good enough.

I'll be giving RACQ a call tomorrow and ask if he was even right to deny me the discount. Greedy bastards.

    • You will probably find that it excludes advertised lines.

  • +3

wow lcd prices are dropping like koalas in a bushfire

    • i think the reason is their lowering prices so they can introduce the LED tvs at the old price points same goes for plasma and the next gen of plasma what panasonic is calling neo plasmas

  • Amazing Deal! That netbook is pretty good too! Nice find

  • Whats the quality of the TV like? I'm pretty interested, are Toshiba a reasonable brand in terms of LCD's?

  • You can get a 40" Toshiba LCD for less than a grand, https://shop.1wow.com.au/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcatego…, so unless you really want the netbook, and the extra 2 inches, maybe the 40" is a better deal…

    • Indeed, but the reason this one caught my attention is because it's 100hz.

      • Yeah I agree, I wouldn't buy a TV that's not 100Hz. I don't care the price difference, I can notice the motion judder too much on 50Hz screens. I have read that Toshiba make good mid-range LCD's. They aren't a Samsung series 6.. But for the price, they can't really be compared anyway.

Here is a review of the same panel, by the sound of it, but the 50Hz cheaper version:

        http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/review/tvs/toshiba/regza_42rv6…

  • i got the 46" 50Hz from JB HiFi,
the image quite of my cheap RV600A is good, at least i find it is more than acceptable
What surprise me is the audio quilty, which is amazing good. I find it is even better than my yamaha 5.1 system.

    • +2

Surely your Yamaha isn't set up properly then!

      • well, i don't need to do any setup(or paid for any extra $) for the toshiba tv audio and it is difinately better than sony(x-series) internal one(but i don't mean they are bad).
Actually the main problem of my 5.1 system is the center speaker. Since the screen is so big, it is too far away form the centre and thus it can't match the screen/vison. The sound and the picture become too separate. But when using the toshiba internal speaker, it become one again.

          @casmxl

It's dangerous to rely on the TV speaker when watching movies. While the other speakers in your HT 5.1 setup can handle the volume, your TV speakers might be hitting a volume that's more than it can handle. I'd advise your to spend not more than an hour to tune your 5.1. Just increase the level on the centre channel. Easy as A-B-C.

  • Just picked up this deal today at The Good Guys in Preston Melbourne. Ticket price was $1367, obviously there was no haggling on this. The Tv itself is fantastic. couldn't be happier. registered my details for the notebook and looking forward to putting it on ebay (once a mac man always a mac man!). A great deal.

  • I also bought one of these today..I got it a little bit cheaper ($1300) after playing a couple of stores against each other..Awesome picture and the sound quality is fantastic..Also by chance I discovered it can play divx movies off memory sticks from its usb port..One happy camper :)

  • does the netbook come with a 1yr warranty?

  • …and is it possible for the netbook to play DVDs from other regions as well as Aus-region DVDs?

  • +1

I'm not sure about netbook warranty however I'd imagine warranty would definitely be 1 year (..maybe more) and the netbook can't play dvd's as it hasn't got an optical drive as being a "netbook" its considerably smaller than your average laptop

  • The netbook offer was extended to 31/01/2010 - www.mytoshiba.com.au/getcracking/doc/terms-and-conditions.pd…

I just bought one at JB Hifi Chatswood for $1399 + 5yr warranty
