Painful Virgin Australia Velocity Frequent Flyer Experience

I have some Velocity Frequent Flyer points and have been trying to book car hire through the VFF website.

Firstly, I attempted to book on my phone.

I called VFF phone number and got through to the Philippines where they guided me over the phone. Unfortunately it turns out that over the phone one of the booking buttons doesn't appear.

Long story short - VFF website somehow contacts the cartrawler website where you can book cars from any of the top car hire companies and earn frequent flyer points.

However - from Europcar you are able to also REDEEM points for a car.

After getting home I ended up hopping on my computer and sure enough found the "Book with velocity" button and proceeded.

I found a car with Europcar clearly marked with a red logo that says "REDEEM" and around it "Velocity Partner" on the cartrawler site that I get redirected to from the VFF page.

I selected the car and half way down the page I get a login box that asks me to login again to earn or redeem points for car hire.

I try to log in after double triple checking my login details (which worked fine on the VFF website) but every time I try I get the error:

"Sorry we are unable to validate your velocity login. Please try again or contact the Velocity Membership Contact Centre to validate your login credentials"

I have been trying to book for 2 days. I finally decide to contact Velocity by phone. I speak to Glenda (employee ID 803969) who keeps me on the phone for 45 minutes putting me on hold and checking things for me and finally says she cannot do anything for me.

They can't even tell me how many points it will be nor can they use their system to book over the phone.

So now my points are useless.
