How Do You Use Flybuys Points?

I'm wondering how people out there use their points? I get most of mine through grocery shopping at Coles, and I've been just using them to purchase more groceries or spend them at Kmart or Target etc.

I've looked at their rewards, but I'm not really sure they are great value for money.

What do fellow Ozbargainers do with their points? What do you think works out the best way to use them?

Yeah just money off @ Coles

  • After years of accumulating and saving points we have decided with taking on a new mortgage that we will start taking the $10 off for 2000 point option we are given at the checkout. Probably not the best dollar for dollar option but with well over $500 worth a value it time to start cashing in.

    • a guy at work said he and his Mrs just save it all year and use it on the Christmas shop :) Might be good for your situation too

I just convert my every 2000 points to $10 off my next shop at Coles. I link my AGL Electricity account to my Flybuys so I get the rewards quick.

    • Like your style…
But I would prefer to swim in $s

  • I just get the $10 when the 2000 points is reached. I usually just spend it in Coles to reduce what I have to pay.

  • $10 off and some Double value deals (cinema, aquarium tickets)

  • 2000 points for $20 off at target. Used a lot of mine during the toy sale a few months ago. With free shipping I just placed multiple small orders to save the most.

    • You mean $10 off?

      • Apologies, I was using 4000 points for the $20 off.

  • We accumulated 17k points and I bought Ipod shuffle for my kids as gift. They really enjoy.I connected AGL too with flybuys.
Also petrol in coles express and groceries purchase earn points quickly. I pay petrol with Amex Edge card and scan flybuys too.so earn points for both of them and submit my fuel bills to salary package company for reimbursement to my bank account.

Buy gift cards. Just go to the flybuys website to claim.

  • I use the points for flybuys dollars once I get to 2000 points. This works out as 0.5cents per point.

There are some double value rewards out there where you can get 1 cent value per point. If you use Mix Apparel clothes from Coles you can get a $20 voucher for 2000 points. The movie ticket vouchers also sometimes go on promotion but the value is similar to other movie reward tickets so it might still be cheaper to go elsewhere. The double rewards value offers are good but they are fairly specialised.

To all those members who are using the $10 discount off your shop, consider using flybuys dollars instead. I know the conversion rate is the same but the flybuys dollars can be more powerful. They make it easier to qualify for targeted offers as the flybuys dollars are used as a payment method rather than a discount. The targeted offers are based on the transaction value after all discounts. Sometimes I end up with $50 in flybuys dollars. I've used this to get exactly $50 worth of shopping and pay for it all with the flybuys dollars. Usually I've then qualified for the next targeted offer and gotten another 1000 or more flybuys points without spending any additional money. If I'd taken $10 off my shop I wouldn't have qualified for the next targeted offer. I always take the points in the current 4 week offers which offer a choice of 10000 points or $50 off the next shop.
