Lithium Battery Safety (Guy Injured by Exploding Cell!)

Hey so i came across this article

A guy sustained serious injury when a e cigarette blew up in his face now it doesn't say that it was cause by the battery but most likely it was the injury are bad but not life threatening. the two problem here is people modding vapers to smoke weed and other products…people miss treating lithium based batteries it could very well have been a overcharged cell considering there was flames or maybe it was protected and it vented in his face! either way be careful when using lithium battery please!

I have read stories of peoples flashlights blowing up and people getting hurt but its a whole new story when the cause is right next to your face a vital organs.

Does any one have there own stories when batteries went wrong?

    I put batteries the wrong way into a torch.
    Torch did not work.
    I put batteries the right way.
    Torch worked.
    Battery died
    Torch did not work.
    Replaced battery
    Torch worked

    etc.

    basically:

    don't buy the cheap chinese knockoff batteries and chargers
    never overcharge
    do not place batteries in a container with conductive materials that may short the battery
    do not drop, puncture or damage your lithiums, if they're damaged they will combust

    You don't screw around with a lithium battery — they're energy dense and will go off with a bang. The last place you want them to go off is right in front your face — exactly the kind of situation when you're vaping…

      Yea I know all my gear runs on lithiums I always use proper chargers and cells at least I hope

        GTL, they were one of the cheapest on eBay.

          i have 4 of them but kine are 16340's i got from some one in Sydney…they seem okay I've had them for a few years now but i did replace them with soshine that i brought from fasttech now the GTL are back ups…
