Unless you consider being on Origin a super advantage this is not a bargain (according to the rules) as it is always available for free apparently (incl. Yuri's revenge):

  I don't know whether this is slow all the time or just now but the download speed for me was <5KB/s on a 14MBit/s connection so it was going to take 6 days.
  
  Origin may not be the best of game distribution systems by any means, but I commend your patience if you want to have your PC on for nearly a week to download this (not to mention that the connection may get reset partway).

    You're lucky. I tried three times in as many hours and every time I got an error message to try again later on. I never got to download it at all. :-/

      I was talking about the site Lysander posted, I got the same error as you for the Origin version every time and EA pulled it from the store in between attempts.

      Depends on time of day you try. Have downloaded C&C1 from there and it was done quickly.
      Same with other games. It's just a gamble as it is with other sites. Sometimes even HB is paintstakingly slow even though I am on the NBN.

is it possible/necessary to run the 1.006 patch when you have downloaded this game from origin?

  I'm not sure sorry. Unlike Steam, I'm not sure if Origin uses the latest patches for older games.

  I tried that patch and it wouldnt work. But after a while Origin came up with a message saying there's an update for C&C so I just updated from Origin. Seems fine now.

  Yes; duplicate postings (no matter how old the original mayebe …) most likely will be withdrawn by a moderator. Have also experienced this. Thank you for the attempt; perhaps age of original postings need to be looked at and verified … in this case it appears original is still live though.
