Looking for a USB stick this morning and keen on Sandisk as they review/perform well… found this and looks a great price, especially with price matching at Officeworks.

  Prices have been that for a while (at least 2 weeks), it is strange also they are selling Sandisk USB 2.0 (Non Ultra) and 3.0 (Ultra) for the same price, at least the 64gb

        I grabbed a 16GB drive above and happy with the 20mb/s avg write speed compared to my old USB 2.0 sticks. How much quicker are the Extreme models, say copying around a 700mb file on avg?

        this link says 4.85MB/s sequential write speeds for your drive, vs 62MB/s per second for the 16GB Extreme:

        based on those benchmarks, it would be 6x faster for sequential write (or 4x faster effective speed for overall typical usage).

        edit: actually, on the average user benchmarks, your drive gets 27.8MS/s vs 40.6 for the 16GB Extreme:

        not sure why such large discrepancy between the Peak Lab Bench results vs the user average…somewhere between 2x and 6x faster, it looks like!

        Thanks, that made for interesting reading. Strange there is such a difference between the lab and user. It not like mpg testing where the environment matters.

  I just bought an SanDisk Ultra USB (Tiny version of this) but it the build of it is pretty crap (broke of my keyring day 1)… I'm tempted by this if its not too much bigger

    did you try to put a metal split ring through the lanyard eyelet? that hole is for a lanyard string, not a keyring!

    ps. you bought the Ultra Fit, which is a low profile drive. the Ultra is a regular usb drive (about 10x the size)!!!

      Well yep and I feel like an idiot- I used it on my keyring (a tiny one).

      Sandisk said they'll replace it.

      Love the size of the Ultra- if this is 10x larger than no way.

        Yep the ultra fit is great (i have one 128gb ultra fit, and two 32gb cruzer fits, the old usb 2.0 model). For the size and relatively decent speeds, it can't really be beat!

  The SanDisk Extreme (CZ80) performs well. These are average.
