  • Thanks op.

    Some assistance please.

I noticed that there were refurbished models at same price. Are these ones offered refurbished? Thanks.

Can the units work together (sorry I haven't viewed the set up details)?

There are two (2) parts to cloud storage- apart from30 free trial days I assume on top of range service, there is paid and unpaid versions , do I read correctly the difference here is one is pull and one is push with alert?

Can units operate without the cloud with local with to home PC.?

    Thanks.

I don't have much experience with these model. I was just looking for some PTZ cameras and came across these. To answer your question I think these are new and not refurbished.
      See link

As far as working together I am sure you can have more than 1 unit as your router must assign different IP addresses to it but I am not sure.

Also I am guessing that they can operate without the cloud support.

      • Thanks. Sadly I do not live next to a naturalist resort and we have to resort to these for security.

Just remember - security and cameras will only protect us from honest crooks.

  • I have one of these (from Costco) and it is quite useless.
I was expecting the ability to record footage, but you can only save images or video from the smartphone app. On older firmware versions there is a local web interface which can be used to stream the footage via the web (and subsequently record it using a script), but this is not something that is useful.

It is impossible to see anything on the other side of glass at night (the infrared LEDs reflect too much light) and during the day the image is poor.

It could be useful for remote checking of something (is my oven turned on?).

it will be good for baby video monitor. however i feel the shipping is a deal killer.
ebay sells one with PTZ for about $40+ such as this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Portable-Wireless-IP-WiFi-Network…

  • compatible with synology nas?
i just dont like the way it has power cable, if i put this up on the ceiling the power cable will looks ugly (i dont want to drill wall or do some electric re wiring)

  • Erwinsie, How would you power the unit without power? If they are rechargeable the battery would only last a day at most, you'd be constantly having to recharge all the time.
Our have I misunderstood what you meant to say

As codhopper said above, this is a fairly rubbish product. The resolution is very low and you can only view it through the proprietary app and webpage. To do that you have to pay $5.99 per month per camera in USD for the cloud storage. (you dont need cloud storage to view the app when you are in range of the wifi but what point is that?). To make matters worse the software is locked down and you cant view it on any of the normal webcam software such as milestone, blue iris etc.

The app hasnt been updated for a couple of years so depending on what hardware you log in with the "sign in" button will be below the screen so you cant access it or if you set your device to autologin it will sign in so thats a start. Then just turn your ipad upside down (Im serious) and you can kind of see the picture. It will randomly crash

If you set it to record movement you can log in to the webpage to try to see it but you will have to pfaff around for ages to get the hang of it (delete some footage so you can get to the next page) to see a tiny picture. In any case its really not going to tell you much, unless a semi runs into it, and even then it is a 50/50 chance of actually recording it no matter what settings you put.

All in all a complete rubbish product and no wonder they have marked it down to 20 bucks so they can milk you for the cloud storage. And by the way the cloud storage is by a completely different company ("seedonk" - seriously - it looks like something a teenager hacked together and Swann have contracted them to take care of your "cloud hosting" and "security")

Anyway, for $20 you should be ok, provided you only want to use it as a baby/dog monitor and are within wifi range to do so.

  • and if you have a raspberry pi just sitting in a drawer, turn it into a security surveillance server with MotionPie https://www.squirrelhosting.co.uk/hosting-blog/hosting-blog-…

it works beautifully, but of course the quality is depending on your web cam quality.

one of my raspberry pi is running motionpie and it is dead simple to set up.
