Best iPhone 6S Deal

So my missus has decided (god knows why but no point arguing:) to get iPhone 6s 64gb.

I contacted most telcos and it seems that non of them is willing to offer any extra deal.

The only thing I can get is $10 off from Optus because we have broadband with them. (Optus customer since 2007 but still not extra deal, not even extra data)

But I'm thinking if she waits a bit longer, after that boom ends we could get better deal.

What are you thoughts guy?

Cheers

  • I'm in a similar situation but I'm willing to wait a while until someone comes out with a better deal.

  • Outright purchase will work out cheaper than contract.

    • Not always and necessarily.

Compare how much you pay a carrier for your phone per month over 24 months with what you’ll pay Apple to get a device outright, and you realise that carriers are still softening the blow to your wallet with partial subsidies. We mentioned earlier that with a Virgin or Optus plan you’d only end up paying $720 or $632 respectively for your device over a 24 month period, but don’t be fooled. Yes, it can be more expensive as a one-off cost buying a phone outright, but you can offset the cost with a super-cheap SIM-only service.

Amaysim, for example, will give you unlimited talk, text and MMS a month, as well as 2GB of data for just $29.90 per month with no contract. Vodafone will give you infinite standard national calls and texts and 3GB of data for just $40 per month with no contract. It all balances out in the end, it’s just where you want to spend your money: outright or month-by-month. That decision is up to you.

  • Get cheapest vodafone sim only month to month plan ($30) and mobile payment plan for 24 months.

    • Where are you gonna get mobile payment plan for 24 months? The best you can get is 6 months interest free on Go mastercard at Apple store and that still works out about $80 per month for 2y

      • I'll scan the flyer from vodafone tomorrow.

      • Vodafone offer 6,12,24,and 36 month payment plans to their customers even on Month to Month plans. The current $50 with 10gb month to month plan is a good deal, then just add the mobile payment plan to it. Can be done for any handset they stock, has always been an option except recently they added the 36 month option.

  • Yes, article speaks to this subject.

It's a matter of sinking $1K+ in to tel-co funding (to not your benefit) & OFC desired $1,100 hardware -for one item’s cost- all in ONE knot & desperate Telcos lurve that. :)
Becomes a 2nd-class service offering, shunned whle being 'locked up,' but entirely bypassable by anyone. - Contemplated outright, Simo, saving up -?

While I searched into this prior to 6S launch it was showing data only~5G, plus rather-standard zerorated voice, thats available Prepaid-or-SimO now.

On present month values contract might even look favorable. I don't see these compelling much interest, with possible Optus an exception. But one doesn’t fall in to that gleaming trap; rather, it is safe to watch the debt- saddled options phase out of advanced. markets.

  • Have u tried price matching Optus by live chat on Vodafone website. I manage to get 115 plan, $100 +15 phone for 99 dollars by mentioning what Virgin is offering. Partly because I am a current Vodafone customer too. Is your wife using Vodafone now?

    • Yeah I tried to bargain with them on chat. I told them I can get $10 off at Optus and they were really not interested not even in matching the offer. You got probably lucky coz you went for higher plan. I'm trying to get as low as possible….something like $60-$65 per month for 64GB with at least 1GB of data

  • I went to a vodafone store, they offered me 2 x iphone 6s 64gb for $180 a month, first 3 months free, deducting the first three months, that equates to $157.50 a month. pretty good deal. im a fan of visual voicemail, piss poor effort by other carriers for not having this feature.

    • Wow this is good . Is this a business plan? how much internet do u get?

      • 6gb combined, its shared data. its a business deal as long as you have an abn number.
