Anyone planning to buy the iPad Mini 4

Anyone thinking of buying the iPad Mini 4? You can check it out physically in the Apple Store, it's available on display now. http://www.apple.com/au/shop/buy-ipad/ipad-mini-4

If anyone has any experience in buying iPads, any idea when they will start giving 10% off or a free Apple TV? Either from Officeworks or Myer. 64GB for $699 is real expensive, the ozBargain in me needs to get a slight discount (already got 5% off from cashback with Coles myer giftcards).

  • The mini 4 is identical to the mini 3 in appearance, i heard the only difference is, it has the inside of an air 2, I'd rather get the air 2 if I was you, it's dropped btw.

    • Worse actually. A8X is around 40% better than A8 in terms of performance (don't quote me on it, I cannot remember the exact difference).
I am more than certain that A8X is miles ahead of A8 (due to it being designed for a tablet), I'd assume that they couldn't have used A8X on Mini even if they wanted to, from what I've read from forums and such.

That said, form factor is something to consider (10 inch vs 8 inch). I think Mini 4 is attractive because it's comparable to Air 2.
I've heard that they've improved the colour reproduction on Mini 4 as well, it's more similar to iPad series apparently.

I am genuinely tempted to get an iPad Mini 4, though as with all electronics, though I wouldn't jump in as soon as it gets released.

    • Ipad air 2 is too big for my handbag, also I have trouble holding the screen. It's about 9 or 10 inches.

I suspect they only do price drops around Christmas.

    • The new mini is also slightly larger & thinner than the previous generation.

  • Tip: What lever IOS device you choose, make sure you have at least 32 GB storage, to facilitate upgrades…

    • The people who bought the 32GB iPad are probably scratching their heads about now :-P

    • its a bastard move by Apple to make 16GB variants of any of their devices. they shouldn't be allowed to sell a model where the OS takes over 1/4 of the usable memory.

if they keep it up I'd like to see them forced to quote the amount of free memory on the box on a sticker according to the OS version the device ships with.
