Google Play/Telstra Refund

Hey guys,

Does anyone know how Google Play refund works? A few weeks ago I installed Zipt to call overseas. It was working well at the start for a day or two. Suddenly the app stopped working after I recharged 2 x $10USD. I requested for a refund from Google and the two transactions was approved. 14 days later I emailed Google to find out the status of the refunds and Google replied saying that two transactions were already refunded. So if both transactions has been refunded to my account already why is it not showing in my Google account or my Telstra Account?

  • Check your bank account or credit card. Did you pay with Telstra credit?

    • Yes I paid with Telstra Credit. But I did not received any Credits at all.

  • Are you still using the same Telstra sim as the one you purchased off?

  • Yes I am still using it right now to reply to you.

    • @ HansomeMonkey

You need to contact Telstra live chat.

Refunds never work for some reason.

The App supplier (seller) can provide proof of refund if needed.

  • Email google first to get confirmation that the refund was given, you can then check your transaction history via google play to confirm refund was given. Then Telstra Live Chat to mention the google confirmation so Telstra can't deny refund. If you don't follow this, Telstra will deny refund and keep telling you to talk to google.

    • In confirmation from google that refunds was given. It shows in Google wallet. Why the hell do we need to go through Telstra to get refunds?

      • Hey, don't shoot the messenger. If you don't believe me, that's not my problem.

        • Not what I mean. What I am saying is why do we even have to contact Telstra for refunds? Why do we have to go through so many hoops just go get our money back?

  • Telstra processes refunds from Google weekly. If a refund was requested within a week of the customer's bill cycle, it may not appear until next month's bill cycle.

    • Google refunded on the 4th of September. That's over two weeks ago. If Telstra processes refunds weekly then why is it still not in yet?

      • Read the 2nd sentence again. It's possible something got screwed up in which you'd have to contact Telstra.

  • My refund was applied straight away, might be because i wanted a refund in 10 mins after downloading. Not sure though

    • Received refunds after 1.5 month and 1 hour with the Telstra online chat. They even tried to sell me postpaid service while resolving my refunds.

  • Having the same problem right now! Google canceled a book purchase and refunded as indicated in google account. 9 days and not in my testra credit. Rang telstra and they put the call thru to google to confirm refund. Took ages as google wanted to confirm the post code associated with google account which was setup 6 years ago. I move around alot! After confirmation telstra rep had hung up. WTF. 27 minutes by the way…
Had to ring back (which im the phone now) and been on hold as rep checks what to do… seriously I will never be using a full paid service with telstra their customer contact needs massive training, so clueless. Its like its the first time they have ever heard of of telstra billing on google play! Currently sitting on 42 minutes to get a $13 refund!!
Google says the funds will go back on the account at the next statement cycle… its prepaid-month to month, wont be on this service for next billing cycle. They take the money instantly they can refund it instantly.. FFS…..

Seriously unbelievable, I have hung up at 45 minutes. I wonder what Telstra does with its billion dollar profits, certainly isnt training competent staff!

    • Do it through their online chat not on the phone. You won't get it fixed on the phone. It took me 45 minutes chatting with them just to get my $25 back. While you're chatting with them they will try and sell you postpaid contract. Don't by into it. I think they are doing it on purpose. I don't know anyway my account is working with Google play now after a few months.

  • I had a problem come up with google play music, my 6month subscription paid via telstra credit went wrong, somehow overwriting the 9 months I still had.

Fially after sorting it, google quickly refunded, but I was no longer a telstra pre-paid user so the account was no longer valid. Told Google this, they said no worries, as soon as it's bounced back they'll refund it to my nominated paypal.

Telstra never bounced it back, yet when I contacted them, they denied it arriving.
Emailed back and forward between Google, Telstra and myself for about a week before giving up. Like getting blood out of a stone

    • I too have lost over $350 of Play Music prepaid codes that I purchased through Telstra carrier billing.

Three codes that had been applied dropped off my account. After contacting Google support about the issue I have gotten nowhere after almost a month and countless emails and phone calls. There support service is borderline incompetent. To add further insult to the injury they cancelled two remaining codes that I had purchased (and had yet to apply to my account).

      I'm getting nowhere, very frustrating.
