Looking for a Great Value Cutlery Set

Hey OZB's, I'm after a quality set of cutlery. Looking for advice on the best product or store offering the best price. I've browsed through Peters of Kensington, Harris Scarfe, Your Home Depot etc and have seen that Peters of Kensington is offering a 56 piece set for $69.00 (http://www.petersofkensington.com.au/Public/Tablekraft-Panam…) - I'm getting ready to move out in four months and I'm slowly accumulating the necessary items that will stand the test of time (a few years) with a budget between $50-$90. Any advice would be appreciated!

  • Hi There,

That's close to the best deal your going to find.
I posted this deal not long ago however unfortunately the deals expired and is now $89.95 - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/209352

  • Sorry busy at the moment.
    Check http://www.yourhomedepot.com.au/catalogsearch/result/index/?…
And then eBay search under Stanley roger cutlery set. Any ?$50 voucher finished.

    • Thanks for that!

This looks like a great deal http://www.yourhomedepot.com.au/stanley-rogers-cutlery-set-5…, iIt comes bundled with a bamboo cutting board (worth $23 making it $4 cheaper for a grand total of $73.72. Is there a particular reason that you prefer Stanley Rogers?

      • Great find, good team work.
I am no expert on cutlery like others. But I know Stanley Roger is a proper brand that has been around for some times. See history. I was given a SR silver cutlery set.
While Tablekraft, I can find it from kitchendirect 40 piece set for $89 with no special.

Did you see the pop up on homedepot $10 off as well. Great deal. I am getting one myself now.

      • Great deal!!!! RRP $249 + bamboo cutting board.
Normally $10 voucher for sign up. I try to apply code but did not work.?bundle/discount deal.
The total is actually more but the bundle deal actually makes it better.
Have you got one yet? I did (though I do not need one yet). Perhaps I should wake up in the middle of the night and spend more. Great wedding gift for one coming.
It is a steal : ) perhaps worth to post after confirmation of our order in the morning.

        • Waiting to pounce, they haven't sent through thr $10 code yet. Just shot them though an email. Fingers crossed :)

        • @julesio: I did as well. few hours now no still no coupons. Also, I tried this link. Received a code instantly but code is not valid. ? Because not to be used on already discounted item - could not find T&C.

        • Shouldn't(sic) wake up

        • @eatwell365: I'll wait a few more hours for am email, if not, I'm going to jump. Still a grand total of $81 (including shipping), perfect for what I need and still a bargain for quality + bonus in my eyes :)

Now to track down some frypans and plates ;)

        • +1

@julesio: for your consideration. Bought this. Pyrostone - need little to no oil to fry an egg. From same importer as scanpan.

        • @eatwell365: That looks like a great deal - I've bene eying Swiss Diamond set (frying pan and low casserole dish) as a splurge/investment piece. Especially when the 24cm Frypan is "on sale" for $119 at DJ's and $99 at POK. Will definitely look into the Pryostone though.

        • @julesio: just curious if any luck with the code?

        • @eatwell365: It never came through! Disappointed. I also discovered that this cutlery set is only 80/0 stainless steel. After a lot of research that makes me very wary.

        • @julesio: wouldn't be wary, the silver ones are even harder to look after - blackened and marks,
Price is good. Same thing without bundle bonus.$89 in VB.. Reviews are excellent. I have bought 2 sets myself. Think if you don't like, should be able to return. As RP 249, the expectation should be 18/10.

        • @eatwell365: Finally got it, had to sign up through the orange pop-up module.

        • @julesio: wonder if the code works on check out

        • @eatwell365: It does, I just tried

  • Comment: if you use a dishwasher try to get 18/10 stainless steel. It'll make a difference - most of the cheaper stuff is 18/0 and is subject to getting brown spots. (the 18/10 can also get them but far less in likelihood and intensity)

    • Thanks for that. The one I've been eying is 18/0. Will have to meditate on this for a moment.

  • Might be a bit of a strange suggestion, but if you have any recently married friends have a chat to them about it. Cutlery sets are a common wedding gift and I know we ended up with a few sets- ended up giving a couple away to friends, sold one set on Gumtree and kept a couple for ourselves.
