Portable Samsung SSD T1 1 TB Uses?

Hi

Was just gifted a Samsung Portable SSD T1 1TB

I don't want to just use it to backup data as I already have multiple 1TB+ portable hard drives that I use for backups, Xbox One already has 2TB Seagate Desktop hard drive connected, PC/PLEX Server already has 2TB storage which is enough for me.

So what can I use it for? Don't want to sell it but don't want it just sitting the the draw.

Thanks

  • You could potentially use it as a boot drive for a laptop?

  • Isn't the drive inside it mSATA version of the 850 EVO? You could probably use it for upgrades for your laptops and such.

Or use it with your phone.

    • I don't have a laptop or Android device.

      Thanks for the links though

      • if it is a mSATA, you can get a converter easily for PC usage (though what jzdhgkd said, don't do it!).
It looks like it'd be hard to disassemble.

SSDs are harder to have data recovered, so selling it second hand would be better.

  • Sorry, but I'd just sell it. I know you said you don't want to, but it's a pretty niche device and it's worth a fair bit… if you're not going to benefit from the fact it's an SSD at all, then you may as well sell it and buy something you really need / want with it.

Or connect it to the Xbox One, since it'll be much faster than the Seagate.

    • Yeah might connect it to the Xbox One if I can't find a better use for it.

  • Use it as a swap disk on your PC/Plex server?
