Do these water filters have any real life scientifically proven practical results or are they more placebo? (not a loaded question, it's a genuine one)
The water taste is much more pleasant with filters, cant see any placebo effect, as when their time is up, water taste starts to taste more like tap water.
Similar water filtration techniques are also used in more than just drinking water filtration.
I find they remove the chlorine taste from the water in Brisbane. Don't know if they have any health effects. Just tastes better. Melbourne's tap water was fine for me.
Thats correct, they remove Chlorine, and this is a nasty toxin, linked to Cancer among other diseases, so removing chlorine is a health effect.
Chlorine evaporates overnight or depending on temperature, just cover the water with something clean but lets it breathe.

The water tastes much better after being filtered through one of these.
Id otherwise struggle to drink the amount of water I do if it came straight out the tap.
