STM Bags, Good Choice?

Hi All,

Im in the market for a decent backpack that has many compartments and is good for travelling and work tablet/laptop.

Came across STM drifter and seemed a reputable one (no knowledge in this area) Any thoughts or alternatives?

  • I use an STM case for my Surface Pro 3, I reckon it's pretty high quality with nice padding and thoughtful design elements. Its got 1 compartment, removable straps and is reasonably stylish, even came with a free reward tag. It's a tablet case so I can't speak much for their backpacks.

From what I can see from the case, I would definitely vouch for STM's quality. Though IMO, $136 is more than what I'd pay for that backpack.

now kogan is running 136 with freeshipping, eneded up costing more than normal…

    • Is there any alternative brand that might present better value for backpacks?

I like Herschell (though they're still expensive.. but I'd buy them over STM) I currently own a superdry bag that's pretty well padded and surprisingly decent quality though I probably wouldn't recommend them for going to work.

Also depends on whether you're willing to compromise on style or price.

Other brands you could look at are high sierra, or swiss gear, some of my friends use those.

I have had a couple of STM products, although not a full size backpack.
They have all been well made with high quality materials. They do cost a lot, however.
Catch of the day has STM stuff every now and again.

STM bags are awesome.. I've put a couple of the backpacks through it's paces as my main backpack on long hiking/camping trips and they're still in one piece! None of the stitching fell apart and it still looks brand new. They seem to be well designed with all the pockets and compartments for extras.

If you don't mind spending, another option would be Crumpler - http://www.crumpler.com - they are definitely not cheap though.

The quality is quite similar - I personally prefer the STM styling, but each to their own.
