An $99 USD VR from Oculus for Galaxy Users Released, Anybody Excited?

The new Gear VR is 22% lighter, making it more comfortable to wear. The trackpad on the temple of the headset also now has a tactile directional pad on it so your finger will know where it’s touching. The previous Gear VRs had a smooth trackpad and sometimes it was to tough to know if you were touching it or just the unsensitive shell of the headset when you couldn’t see for yourself.

There’s also a new Gear VR Gamepad which all the Oculus Connect conference attendees will get for free. It features an Xbox-style dual-stick design.

Also, it should be noted that it supports S6, Note 5 S6 Edge and Edge+, unlike the last Gear VRs (which supported only one device).
It will ship in November in time for black friday for $99 USD.

I assume that it's not going to be available in Australia for awhile, but I am frankly excited to see a VR device that's more affordable (well released at half price is at least more affordable). Also, I am slightly surprised that it's announcnced by Oculus, not Samsung (since Samsung has been announcing these for awhile in their own events).

Anyways, anybody excited for this new VR model for porn movies and other forms of entertainments like games?

    No….

Nawww, but think of the potential in gaming, movies and stuff.
$200 USD was a ridiculous price, but $100 USD looks more reasonable (it's on par with a stylus).

      • VR gives me motion sickness. I'll pass…

        • Fair enough. I guess my excitement on a toy getting cheaper is something uncommon in general population.

        • @Oversimplified:

Last time I spoke with Samsung people about this, the frame rate has been increased to the level which renders motion sickness unlikely.

Since they sourced these headsets from Oculus, I would be very surprised if the frame rate hasn't been further boosted for Oculus headsets.

It's still $99 for something that's essentially a glorified phone case + headband. Save your money and get the full VR headsets next year.

  • $99 AUD is what i expect to be good
