    Why no I7 nuc?

So is Crucial more reliable than SanDisk? :)

    • +3

Depends on which model you are comparing. If you compare BX100 to the Sandisk Extreme series then it will be Sandisk Extreme. If we compare to the entry level models, i will say crucial has the edge in terms of both speed and reliability

    • The BX100 is only slightly below the 850 Evo

When a NUC is 10x better than the POS sitting on my desk at work…. makes baby Jesus cry

  • Regarding the Intel NUC i5, what would you recommend for the RAM?

OP, How about the i5 5th gen NUC deal too?

    • Sorry kevin22, only 4th gens are possible.

    • +6

I would bite if there was a deal on 5th gen and M.2 SSD
Leaves the 2.5" HDD Bay for a mechanical drive if I need more storage.

      • Is there much difference between 4th and 5th gen? Simple Netflix, 1080p vids etc?
Would you go i3 or i5?
Basically going to be a HTPC?

  • a nice cheap samsung SSD wouldn't go astray…

    • +3

Why's it have to be Samsung?

I've bought plenty… but equal amount of other top-tier brands/models, too.

      • +1

Crucial's are outnumbering Samsung's in my collection atm…..They are my top two choices regardless though.

      • I wish, they say within 4 weeks and seem intent on using all 4 weeks it seems

  • I wonder what people use NUC for? never could quite figure out

    • It's basically a computer with a very small form factor. It's actually quite powerful, more than most laptops. I'm tossing up whether to grab one to use for media player purposes.

  • Here guys, read this before the compute stick purchase lol

    hi rep,
will it be possible to get discount on samsung evo 850 500gb ?
    Thanks !

  • Ozbargained another crucial ssd. The one from the last deal made my laptop boot up in 15-20 seconds running windows 10. Previously with it took 5-6 minutes with an aging hard drive. Thanks OP.

    • How old is your laptop and what are its specs?
Boot time is 20 sec with an i5-460m, 4gb ram, Sandisk Plus 128GB on windows 10.
Feels like Windows 8 boots slightly faster than Windows 10 for some reason on my desktop, used to be 2-3 second boot times with an i5 4679K + 8gb ram. With Windows 10, it takes 5 seconds or so. This is with a Sandisk Extreme 240GB as a boot drive
