OzBargain-Like Site for USA Domestic Flights & Car Rental

Hey guys,

I'm going to be travelling around in the US a bit next year, and looking to book domestic flights and maybe car rental.

Is it worth it to book car rental before hand?

Anyway, I know plenty of flight price comparison sites and have some alerts setup. But what I'm interested to find is a site similar to oz bargain where I can see which airlines are having sales, etc. (kind of like here in ozbargain, where if jetstar has a massive sale, it gets posted).

So does such a site exist? Or should I just stick to sites like skyscanner that give flight price alerts?

    • Yes - book something before hand, because you can always cancel it (usually without penalty). For car hire, I'd suggest Rhino Car Hire, or Expedia.co.uk (yes UK) because in the past when I've booked through their they have really good rates (presumably volume discounts) and all hires come as standard with the mandatory insurance that you MUST have when hiring a car in the USA. Note that your credit card or travel insurance car hire "excess" coverage is useless in the USA, as there is no such thing as an "excess" in the USA. You either have 100% liability or 0% liability.

    • I've always booked before I go. Note that quite a few US domestic budget carriers don't feature on flight aggregator sites. So separately check out Southwest and Spirit and there are a few others.

Good tip, thanks. I've never heard of these airlines before… then again, never flew domestic in the US before. Cheers!
