something like being a member of some other service that offers discounts?

only need $50-$60 worth

can you buy wish gift cards to pay for JB hifi gift cards?

Use RACV, Entertainment Book, other car clubs etc to get 5% discounted Wish cards. Buy JB Hi Fi giftcards at Woolworths with the Wish cards.
