Which socket 1155 mobo to buy?

Following from my other thread https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/212790/edit, it's time for me to replace my mobo. Had the AsRock B75 Pro3M for 2.5 year,so I guess it's out of warranty yes?

Below are the other parts I have:

Thermatake V9 case
MSI AMD R78701-2GD5TOC
ANTEC NEO ECO 520C
INTEL BX80637I53470
2x G-SKILL DDR3 1600 4GB RAM

Deciding between H77 & B75 chipset. Can't seem to find any H77 chipset mobo sold in Australia, or is B75 mobo good enough for me?

Hoping to find a bargain buy to keep this PC going. Don't need to upgrade just yet (not big PC game). MSY don't even sell socket 1155 mobo anymore, so I guess my option is to buy online. Hoping to take advantage of the ebay 15% off sale too.

Thanks for you help!

Looking at GIGABYTE GA-B75M-D3H. Reviews seem positive. The main question I have is whether it will fully utlise 2x of my 1600mhz 4GB RAM?

  • Curious, do you think 2.5years is a reasonable amount of time for a mobo to last?

    • No, I would say at least 3 years. I meant I could play the latest PC games now on pretty high setting on "gaming focused" built too even after 2.5 years.

Very disappointed, will be staying away from ASrock for time to come..hopefully the other brand prove better…Heard good thing about build quality of Gigabyte, so that will be most my next mobo most likely…not much to choose from for me anyway lol

      • Good man.

My recommendation is Intel Extreme Mobo's.

In terms of reliability there is probably literally nothing better. Sadly Intel no longer make them now… but they did still make '77's 👌 Perfect for what you are asking for.

        • sadly I don't think I could find one anymore.

        • @Droid11: just had a quick look on eBay… none in Aus, but plenty in the US that can be shipped over… type in "Intel DZ77"… still quite expensive, but a lot cheaper than when they came out… but you get what u pay for.

my second choice would be EVGA… also very good.
