Computer Waking up from Sleep and Hibernation - Nothing Works to Fix It

So my otherwise awesome custom built rig has been having issues for the past month. It'll wake up from sleep and hibernation within a few minutes by itself. I've tried everything on the internet and I'm out of ideas. Nothing in device manager is allowed to wake it up, i've tried the powercfg CMD crap.

Please help me out, it's getting ridiculous.

(It runs Windows 10 Pro, fyi)

      Milk and cookies.

  • I had some issues resuming from sleep with mine too, which it never had running W8.1. I had to go through Device Manager and remove the 'wake from sleep' feature from Power Management for input peripherals and network drives. It's helped, somewhat, but still spotty. I wish this is ironed out.

Wierdly I also have this issue … maybe it's a bug that's been introduced by an update? Running Win7

  • Try unplugging all USB devices, LAN cable or disabling WiFi and see if it still does it. The option for wake may be set to off but it may not have done anything due to a possible bug. Are updates available and wanting a restart to install? It may need to be shutdown to allow updates to install then powered on again.

Try disabling the privacy rubbish that M$ like to have set by default too. http://www.techradar.com/au/news/software/operating-systems/….

  • I had this issue recently, the perpetrator was Spotify. I have to now close Spotify from my Taskbar and my PC doesn't wake up anymore.

To at least see what's waking your PC open an elevated cmd prompt: ctrl x - Command Prompt (admin) - type in "powercfg -lastwake" (or copy/paste this; thanks w10!) without quotations and it will show you what's causing your PC to wake up.

Edit: woops, just re-read what you wrote and you already attempted powercfg. If you use Spotify at least try quitting it through taskbar.

    • I feel like this is the solution, I use Spotify tonnes and never close it. I'll report back when I get a chance to try it.

      • Cool. It was really random as well. Not sure if it's a Spotify update issue or w10 being a sped.

This worked! Thanks so much :)

        • @deanylev:

Excellent! Glad you fixed it, now just remember to close it every time! :)

        • @kaneissik: I switched to a 3rd party client, so I can still listen to Spotify, but don't have to remember to close it. I recommend doing the same :)

        • @deanylev:

          What's the 3rd party client?

        • @kaneissik: I use this one: http://www.fidelify.net

It's pretty no frills, you can make and play playlists, and search for songs. Takes a little while longer to open. Got a pretty nice UI.

        • @deanylev:

          I'll check it out!

  • "Nothing in device manager is allowed to wake it up"

Have you checked your BIOS settings

You may want to Check your power settings in BIOS
as well as WOL (Wake Up On Lan)

  • Do you have magnets near your computer? Even speakers perhaps? What if you take the speakers away and see if it stops the problem?
