I wouldn't advise buying a 'gaming laptop.' Integrated graphics isn't great for anything but fairly basic games on low settings, and discrete laptop GPUs historically have heat throttling issues. If it's for occasional travel or LANs, I'd get a small mITX rig instead.

  Eh what? My "gaming" laptop runs everything I've played on it fine and the settings certainly weren't on low. Heat is definitely an issue as expected but I've not had any issues with actual performance; just my legs being caught on fire.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Honestly, I am not a true "gamer". I play only occasionally (at most 3 to 4 hours on weekends) and then games like Skyrim/dota2/LoL. I have been wanting to try out Witcher III though which I hear needs a pretty solid system. I do not mind playing at medium settings.
I must mention that most of the time I will use this laptop for web development/Photoshop work and occasionally some video editing.
The reason I am opting for a laptop is that I can claim fringe benefits from my employer (tax savings FTW!). I won't be using this in LAN parties etc.
