    ..How is this a deal

    • it's the first time ever people can be paid not to work due to the grand final :)

      • Even better, I'm getting paid double to work

Just seems more suited to the forums mate.

Knucklehead State Premier declared a Public hol on Friday as he thinks more people will come to the City for the Grand Final parade. All it will do is kill productivity and punish business.

The members of the unions that supported him and got him elected are all employed on Awards that attract higher penalty rates for working on a Public Holiday. The members of those unions will benefit financially if they work or will get a day off if they don't.

Basically everyone in Victoria that doesn't barrack for either the West Coast Eagles (Western Aust Team) or Hawthorn will be at home wondering what this is all about. My prediction is that the city will be a ghost town. I was hoping that Fremantle beat Hawthorn last week so that Dan Andrews would be in the city on Friday with a bunch of West Australians and some tumbleweeds and the rest of the CBD deserted.

The public holiday on Friday for the Grand Final is supposedly a public holiday in lieu of Anzac Day falling on a Saturday this year. Anzac Day falls on a Monday next year so it may not happen…..

        • @JayM:

If that's the case where is our Public Holiday in South Australia???

  • Not a deal.
