Asahi Super Dry 6x500ml $19.95 (Scanned @ $24.49, Shelf Price Was $19.95) @ Dan Murphy's

120

Has Dan Murphy's latest beer offering this month got ya down? Well, this might cushion the blow a little: I found Asahi (Japanese imported) cans for $19.95. The cold shelf had $24.49 but the regular shelf had $19.95, I have added a receipt as proof. Perhaps your local Dan's might have something similar.

I prefer Asahi Mountain Goat beers better….

If it scanned more expensive, chances are it was in the wrong spot/expired pricing ticket. May not be at all stores then.

Yeah, it probably has been removed immediately after that incident.

  • 6x500ml.. so you just get from the fridge and scan?

  • The fridge price was more expensive. The shelf price was $19.95. The cashier thought I must have been wrong because he was surprised it was that price. You might get lucky at your store.

  • Name of store in title

  • Anyone know where to get Asahi Black in Brisbane?

    • There's a small bottleshop downstairs in Queens Plaza in the city next to the Coles that stocks them. They have a very decent range of beers, actually.

      • Cheers

Any idea on the store name? I can't find it in the QP online store finder.

Edit - found it QueensPlaza Wine + Beer

      • Thanks - city is a pain in the ass to get into these days (and park). Is it called Queens plaza wine and beer? Hopefully they are a franchise.

        • Yeah, that's the one. I work in the city so I hit it up all the time! hehe. Pretty sure some of the asian grocers stock it as well, like the Japanese grocer in Alderely. Which side of town are you on?

        • @Poimandres:
That one in Alderly (Genkimart) is great but limited license so have to buy a lot of food with it.

There is also one on Albert St - Charm Sushi & Bottle Shop. They actually have some proper Sake there too, 900ml cartons though, not the 1800ml bottles.

        • I'm on the south side - I know one of the noodle restaurants at Garden City sells it but I am looking for 6 packs or maybe even a carton.

        • @leyton01:

If you can't get a carton, you can get them online here:
          http://www.tokusen.com.au/list/beer/

You have to pay shipping though.

I'd give that Charm Sushi Bottleshop a call if you can pick up in the city. They likely have it.

I buy my sake from there but the ones I want I can't get locally (even though they have the same distributor (JFC), the stores really aren't helpful. Tokusen are good and prompt though.

        • Thanks for the link - I was excited by the price which is very reasonable (even if the 'sale' price is only 40c off the 'retail'), $35 shipping though :(:(

        • @leyton01:

It does suck though, their postage rates, but when I get the sake it still works out OK when you get 6 1.8l bottles.

I would give Charm Sushi a call see if they carry it.

        • @leyton01:

Here is another online store carrying it
          http://www.beerstore.com.au/beer/asahi-black-beer

Their postage is much cheaper. I've used this store a few times too.

    • I've gotten it from Wine Emporium at Gasworks Newstead before

The every day carton price for the 500ml import cartons is only $72 which is cheaper than the 4x 6 packs.

Nice beer though. I should get a carton.

These ones are brewed in Japan aren't they? Unlike the bottles.

    • +3

As far as I'm aware all of the Asahi can's are brewed in Japan. Subsequently, they taste much better than the bottle's!

      • I bought the carton, as someone has mentioned is cheaper up top.

Very good beer. A little pricey coming from a slab if aldi beer for 30. But tasty.

        • It is equivalent to 1.5 bottle cartons. That is a fantastic price.

I was living on this stuff when I was in Japan. The difference is like chalk and cheese. Surely must be the water quality. I have not had a asahi bottle here ever since!

        Avid asahi drinker here

  • haha endeavour hills.. good old stomping ground

  • Thank you, OP. I will check it.
