Accommodation and Public Transport in Clayton, VIC

Hi all,

I have to be in CSIRO, Clayton campus next week. So wondering exactly where should I get a place to stay for few days (Airbnb, as I'm a student) and the availability of public transport around that area. Should I stay around that area at all? Should I commute from Melb CBD? Any info will be helpful.

Thanks.

  • Public transport wise the best stop to get to Monash would be at Huntingdale station, the 630 shuttle has buses every few mins, otherwise the Rowville 900 outside of the station on the opposite side of the road will get you there as we. Be prepared for a long walk because the bus ring and CSIRO are on the opposite sides of the campus.
    - There is also another bus from clayton station that gets you straight to CSIRO however I don't think it comes as often.

  • Pretty much what I said. The 601 is the shuttle bus, follow the crowd and you'll get to the bus. It's in the road next to the bridge-where the replacement bus services are.

  • Once you get back to a train station, it's like a 35m train to the CBD so if you don't need to commuting back shouldn't be much of an issue.

    • I have work there for 1 week, so would be better to stay somewhere near I guess.

  • Well I live 2 mins away from that place for 6 years so I would say look for cheap renting on gumtree. If you don't need to travel to CBD, you can live quite comfy with pub transport in that area. It's not close to train station so you'll have to travel by bú to grocercy and shopping centre by bus. Check PTV site for any trips you need to make. Let me know if you want to know more specific.
