Harvey Norman 'Blockbuster Sales' and other non-event 'Sales'

The last year I've been sucked in by Harvey Norman 'Sales' on a few occasions and been overwhelmingly disappointed.

One time I went to the 'Massive half yearly clearance' to look at mattresses - and they were just using it to clear used floorstock at 50% off (which is the standard discount on new mattresses for Big Box retailers).

Is Harvey Norman the worst at this? Who else does it?

Name and shame.

  • Some retailers put up signs saying "up to 50% off", then when you go inside and ask the sales clerk what is 50% off, they umm and ahh and there's actually nothing 50% off.

  • Be wary of their stock system as well

Wanted an external HDD, found one for $58 on their website and it said it was in stock at my local store. Went down there and it wasn't in stock, they did of course have a more expensive one to sell me though. I checked over the next few days and it still said IN Stock

Also I signed up for their newsletter to get the $25 voucher and it hasn't worked on either of the two items I've tried to use it on. They are fast becoming a retailer I just ignore no matter what they are offering

    - rugs a million
    Etc

    • To be fair, a lot of rug businesses are actually having Going Out Of Business Sales. (Perpetually)

        • Birthdays aren't just a reminder of when and how long ago you were born. They're also a reminder that you are 1 year closer to death (where the age you will die is the average male/female lifespan in your country + or - x.)
