Is Anyone Finding Themselves Logged out When Going Back on a Phone?

Ever since upgrading to iOS 9, my OzBargain experience has suffered. If I go back, I will appear logged out unless I hit refresh or access another part of OzBargain. I'm pretty sure it's an iOS thing, but is there anything that can be done site wise?

Right now I'm on an iPhone 5s using safari, with crystal ad blocker running. I have the same problems on my iPad Air. Disabling crystal ad blocker doesn't make it any better.

Cheers.

:P You should mention what device you own, what browser you are using at the very least.
It might be a problem with your device or browser. Also, if you are using any of the add-ons, you should also mention those as well.

Not sure whether I could help though, not an iOS user.

    • Thanks mate, I've edited my post

Something similar (albeit on a different device and different version of OS) I found. See whether helps?

        • I've done that and it's still happening. It's also only specific to OzBargain. Any other fellow Apple sheep that have this problem?

        • @niggard: Good luck then, dunno what seems to be the cause of problem. :P

  • Is this happening the latest version of iOS + Safari? Does it happen

    • On previous version of iOS?
    • On other browsers, i.e. Chrome on iOS?

I know Safari on iOS has bfcache persistent issue. We added some "hack" but didn't work. I don't have an iOS device to test but would like to get down to the root of the problem.

    • It's working fine on Chrome for iOS, it's only Safari that has problems. I didn't have any problems with ios 8 before.

    • I was having cache issue on iPad running iOS 9.1.x. In Safari, when in a deal, I would tap the back button to return to the OB home page, it would take me to an old cached OB page from a week ago. Updating to iOS 9.2 seemed to resolve the issue.
OP have you tried updating to iOS 9.2? Scotty, I'm happy to provide more information on the issue if you're still trying to squash the bug.

  • Was about to post this as a new topic .. then saw this dupe. So yeah still happening.

OK I'll admit this is #FirstWorldProblem .. so this has been bugging me for the last few weeks (since the Birthday Treasure at least) but I'm not sure how long it has been this way. I am moving house and relying on my mobile a lot for internet access so this is why I'm 'dealing with it' more.

I'm finding that when I load the OZB 'Deals page' page it loads OK on arrival the first time, I then scroll through find a deal and click on it. If I use 'swipe back' or the inbuilt 'back button' in the safari browser the 'Deals' page is loaded as a "cached copy". It is usually about 3 or 4 days old. Banner ads are also loaded and displayed (I don't see these when I am logged in). If I reload the page I get the current listing again - but now I have to re scroll through to find where I was up to and then repeat the process again if I find something else of interest. If in stead I use the menu to "login" I don't get taken to a login page instead the current 'Deals' page is reloaded (so the server thinks I am logged in and just bounces me back causing a reload)? Anyway on 3G the constant slow reloading is driving me nuts, probably slightly inflating your page counts and using extra bandwidth that is not needed.

This is on a iPhone 5s updated, using safari .. should be a default config for a lot of users I would think. Seems to only happen on the "Deals Page" ie not page=2,3,4,5..etc or any article nodes/comment pages. (I don't use the standard home page so I can't comment on that)

..or am I the only one seeing this?

    • Elijah, sounds like an issue I was having (described in a reply to the post above). Are you running iOS 9.2?
