Yatango Mobile Has Gone into Administration

Just saw the news on Ausdroid.

Optus reseller Yatango Mobile (Australia) Pty Ltd has gone into external administration, following an unsuccessful reverse listing attempt by its grand-parent company Yatango Pty Ltd.

They were trying to get listed on ASX back in June but wasn't successful. Now without the funding they are now under external administration. Read the Ausdroid article for a good writeup.

Not sure whether they will honour their most recent deal. We'll see how it unfolds.

  • I have two accounts with Yatango for my parents who rarely use phone so they go with one of their cheap plans. Would you know what will happen if they do shut down? Would there be a few months to change providers?

    • When a company has appointed administrator it's really up to them to decide — whether to wind the company down, or continue to operate at lower expense to hopefully return to profitable. The second outcome is relatively rare though, so be prepared to port out.
