Around The World Airfare (Melb-KL-LHR-MXP-OSL-NYC-AUH-Melb) Easter Time $1582

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Hi guys,

I have found some attractive fares for travel to Asia, Europe, America and the middle east and back to Australia. The fares I found are using the www.skyscanner.com and flying out from Melbourne. I am just putting this here to give an idea to the people who actually are spending heaps on travelling but can save much money by using combination of budget and full service airlines and fly to their dream destinations by spending quite less. A little alterations in the dates and the destinations may add or minus in total price.
This is my second post ever here, I hope to see people treat me nicely with my post:)

  1. Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur (236 AUD) Jet Star 21 March 2016
  2. Kuala Lumpur to London Etihad Airways 23 March 2016 [Sector 2 + 6 + 7 $808] Food and baggage inclusive for sector 2+6+7.
  3. London to Milan (Easy Jet) 28 March 2016 [$92]
  4. Milan to Norway (282AUD) (Norwegian Airline) 04 April 2016
  5. Norway to New York (256AUD) (Norwegian Airline) 08 April 2016
  6. New York to Abu Dhabi (Etihad Airways) 18 April 2016 [Sector 2 + 6 + 7 $808]
  7. Abu Dhabi to Melbourne (Sector 2 + 6 + 7 $808) (Etihad Airways) 22 April 2016

2 + 6 + 7 must be booked via multi leg

Total Airfare Cost: 1582AUD

Few Budget airlines are used, add 200 dollars approx towards luggage and meal charges.

Around The World in 32 Days

Beats my deal by 60% !!!

    • Yeah but if I remember correctly Phileas and Passpartout got paid to do it , didn't they? I like your deal so much better.

    • Beats my deal by 60% !!!

Wouldn't be OzBargain if it didnt

Good work sleuthing these fares, but your itinerary is highly specialised and I'd argue not a deal as such. If you were to post specific flights (EG Europe-US on Norwegian Air for $200, or NY-Aust via Abu Dhabi for $700), we could vote on those. As it is, this should probably be in forums.

    • Agree, great effort but i doubt anyone would buy this package exactly as is.

  • it seems to be a good deal for the easter bunny

      or Santa…

  • Wow wow

It's more of a U shape than around the world. Needs to go via south america and the pacific on the way back

  • +1

Good when you don't have . Would be great for young couples

  • It'll be interesting if someone can come up with a similar itinerary but one that continues onwards to the west coast of USA and then across the pacific to Australia (Home). Probably Fiji air or Air NZ from LA to AU but not sure what from NYC to LA.

or via Nigeria so I can go in person to collect my inheritance as per an email I just received.

1500 good price for rtw although you have like 2-3 days in one location be best with 5 days to a month in each if possible

  • +3

    wow OP, great effort

  • Has any one flown Norwegian airlines?

I hear they have great fares ex Asia to Europe, but i'm worried i'll have another airasia long haul like experience - where the seats are sardine like skinny and generally uncomfortable?

    • -5

I would then recommend Business Class for you which will set you back another $2000

      • +1

haha no. I mean theres low cost economy like Jetstar which has good seating and etc, but long haul airasia was a killer as they stuff as many seats on the plane as possible. People who have flown airasia long haul will understand lol.

        Buddy you need to stop.

  • Was looking similar from Mel-Sin-Del-Rome-Paris-Mel was around 2500
Adding new York is great at the price in post

  • +2

    Not bad, thanks OP.

But if they are separate tickets, I'd rather go London>>>Norway by train/bus/car and maximise my EU experience.

  • +2

How long did it take you to find these? It usually seems to take ages for me to find anything worthwhile on Skyscanner, and not even close to as good of a flight chain.

  • How much is the KL to London sector?

    • I'm not good with figures but looking at what is provided, that sector would take the total over $1582

  • Nice find, Prebaby I would have been up for this.

  • when you go on your world tour your plane is going to be full of ozbargainers

    • What we need is for /u/tightarse to organise an *ARSE code so we can privately charter an OzBargain plane!

  • +2

Not this again. You can't pull out an itinerary and post it as a deal. And in technical terms this isn't a RTW airfare, it's a 3-continent return trip booked as 5 different itineraries. And when adding the meals/baggage on LCC, as well as the payment fees, this isn't a deal, more like amateur hour at best.

    • if any flights get cancelled it would stuff up the whole trip.

  • The OP appears to have not added up all the sectors. The actual price is about double what the OP originally posted ($1582) of $3008. Since this deal is not actually valid it's not a deal however it's a great guide to how to fly around the world cheap(er).

    • -2

Lol the actual price is double of the "deal".

      Hi neil,

As per my post below, I believe the OP's math checks out, although OP's description wasn't entirely clear how it worked.

    • It actually is ~$1600 for everything. The OP wasn't very clear but the $808 for Etihad includes all 3 legs not just Abu Dhabi to Melbourne.

That said "deals" like this belong in the forums not on the front page, it isn't actually around the world, it's very specific and it doesn't include any of the numerous charges that would occur from taking budget airlines.

      • Ah OK. I did single segment searches instead a multi-city. I've put links in to help with that part of the search.

  • -1

Sectors 2, 3 and 6 aren't priced but the rest add up to your $1582. Looks like you may need to check your maths unless I'm missing something?

  • Hi Guys,

Thanks who appreciated, just need to be a but flight searching guru to find such fares . I don't know how you guys getting $2916. Try searching this way..

At skyscanner . select multi city search and then put like this:

    For Etihad Air fares:

    Kul to LHR 23/03/2016
    JFK to AUH 19/04/2016
    AUH to MEL 28/04/2016

I changed the dates so can you. :)

Then search proselyte for the other sectors as shown in the pdf file.

    I hope it helps

  • Fares keep changing and they are not in our control .. .

For Mel to Kul now I am getting AUD216 with Air Asia, cheaper than AUD236 with Jet star to fly on 21/03/2016.

  • Ok, I understand why you guys having difficulty finding the fares.

Use www.skyscanner.com and search this way separately.

From Mel to Kul one way

    21/03/2016 AUD216 AirAsia

From Kul to LHR then JFK to AUH then AUH to MEl as multi city search

    Kul to LHR 23/03/2016
    JFK to AUH 19/04/2016
    AUH to MEL 28/04/2016

    it gives you 804 AUD

Then London LGW to MXP and then MXP to OSL in multi city.

it gives you fare from 258 to 280 AUD

I picked 280 as they are direct with Easy jet and Norwegian airline.

Then from OSL to JFK One way AUD 262 for 08/04/2016

Now these all comes as 1562 .. even cheaper than my initial search.

If you guys still need help ask me..

Can someone put this back to ozbargain travel deals now. thanks

  • Hi guys,

His math checks out, and this should be reverted back to a deal. Of course, this price may not include baggage/meals.

    Mel - KL $216

    KL - London

    London to Oslo - $280

Oslo to New York - $262

    New York - Abu Dhabi

    Abu Dhabi - Mel

The three unpriced legs above (KL-London, New York - Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi - Mel) together come to 803, as per this screenshot: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6_SVcwWIA8LamR4dDV6S2hrWk0…

So, together the price is 216+280+262+803= $1561.

Again, it doesn't include extras, but this isn't a bad price and his math certainly checks out.

    • I tries the same 3 legs and dates and best price was $1300+

      • +2
        • Thanks neil. Unfortunately I won't be making a booking but was wondering why I was getting a completely different price from the OP.

  • It's a good find!

  • etihad flies to other cities in europe too. is there say kl to frankfurt to nyc - abu dhabi?

even cheaper then elimination one leg. is oslo the only city with a cheap flight to nyc? you can also do a singapore stopover between abu dhabi and oz. it stops in sg for refuel.

etihad is ok we got the $800 london deal yrs ago. similar but took scoot to sg then etihad rest of the way. etihad to lon then paris to bris.

  • This is great! I wish I had more leave. How do you search for things like this?
