  • Bloody hell, that is cheap! I too want to know.

  • I'd get one for my mother, if they had stores in WA! Doubt this'll be available in Mid-2016!

  • I have an 1100W Ozito electric mower from Bunnings for around the same price and find it is horribly underpowered. Lucky for you though, Aldi have a very lenient returns policy that allows change of mind so buy it and try cutting some decent length grass before deciding if you want to keep it.

    • yeah I think Bunnings has an Ozito one (Which is quite similar to this) for $179. They look identical!

Is that cordless or 240V electric? I've owned an electric. They are often narrower, so take longer to mow. Dealing with the cord can be a pain. You have to mow in a particular way (coil the cord into circles on the ground, and keep mowing so you're always moving away from the cord). Unless you have someone constantly moving the cord for you. Even doing the coil thing, I've still run it over. And if you have rocks, they will smash the plastic to bits. The biggest annoyance though is getting rid of the grass. A very small yard is not such a big deal. But I bought a mulching mower years ago. I won't anything else now. Mowing went from something I detested, to - nearly - enjoy.

    • I am pretty sure this one is not cordless. I've never had to own a mower before so might drop into the local Aldi on Sat & see if I can pick one up.

  • I got a cheap second hand electric flymo a while ago. Yes, it is a smaller cut and you have to deal with the cord but I find it works just as well as the big petrol self propelled one I had before it. I had around 250m2 of lawn to do over several levels. It was just as easy to lift the electric mower up the retaining walls as it was to walk around. Seems to have enough power unless I leave the grass for way to long. Dealing with the cord is a trade off for not having to deal with petrol and two stroke oil.

I think I'd have to move to a pretty big property now to justify getting a petrol mower again.

  • I bought an Aldi one few years back, have a very small bit of grass to mow, about 5x12m. The cord is a bit of a pain, but once you work out how to plan your route it's not so bad. Think it was marginally cheaper than, maybe $80. Anyway it works well even with tough buffalo grass, the catcher is a bit on the small side, overall rate it good value for money.

Yes, it is Gardenline 1400w electric lawn mower. I bought one on 17.10.15 from Aldi ,and already used it and found it very satisfactorily . It is very much powerful than the one Ozito 1100 which I bought from Bunnings Store some three years ago. 1100 W is not that suitable for my medium size garden as it takes a long time to finish its job. This one 1400W is of course more powerful . It is light and moves easily . However I note it makes a noisier sound than 1100 W - perhaps it is due to its
more powerful engine.Any way I am very happy with it.

yeah I picked one up over the weekend too! Really happy with the job it did on Sunday! True its light-weight. I was surprised to see how small but powerful it really was.

  • Can someone please give the heads up if they see one in Brisbane, thanks :)
