Retailers Raising The Price before a Deal

I'm getting so sick of having an item lined up to buy waiting for a deal to activate and then it magically disappearing of the price going crazy.

last night I had a galaxy s6 in my cart and it went from $799 to $999. That's ridiculous!
The 32GB storage size is $70 more expensive than the 64GB one now.

Or, and here's a thought, retailers change their prices with catalogues etc?

Were you really surprised to hear that it would go to RRP, then take 20% off that?

  • I don't get it… you were waiting on a deal to activate?

Are you talking about TGG 20% discount on their ebay store?

    Its $884 minus 20% = $707.20, plus $9.62 shipping.

    • I think it was $799 yesterday and $999 earlier today.

  • I also wanted to take advantage of TGG 20% sale.
I checked the price of a fridge the night before the sale, and it was $2778.
I returned the next day when the 20% sale had commenced. The price was now $2899.
Increasing prices prior to a Sale, is that legal according to the ACCC?
    Does anyone know?

    • But how do you know $2778 wasn't just a sale price that was going to end that night anyway?
It might be a little dodgy but they are well within their right too.
