What is Freegal? (from FAQ's)
Freegal offers access to about 9 million songs, including Sony Music’s catalog of legendary artists, and over 15,000 music videos. In total the collection is comprised of music from over 28,000 labels with music that originates in over 100 countries. There is no software to download, and there are no digital rights management (DRM) restrictions. Access to Freegal is limited to patrons of subscribing libraries.

You get:

  • 3 hours per day of streaming
  • to download 3 tracks per week (if you decide to download a music video, it uses 2 out of your 3 allocated downloads)

Downloads are MP3's at 256 bit rate
There are apps in the Apple & Google play stores for mobile streaming

Example: To get a track on an Apple mobile device for instance, download to a PC/Mac, add the track to your iTunes account and sync it to your device

NB this is still in our testing phase, and will go live to the public in the next few weeks

Also other libraries around Oz, they have a search facility on the root domain that reveals them all.

    • Thanks. Works for all the Adelaide libraries.

I see a daily stream limit of 3 hours, weekly download limit of 3 songs. I think that the above info should be "daily streaming time", not weekly. According to the FAQ "Patrons of subscribing libraries now have a weekly download allotment, and a DAILY streaming allotment. The download counter and the streaming time remaining are at the top of the page once you login."
