eBay Non Receipt Case (close and open another)

Hey guys,

Recently bought a micro SD card from a bargain posted here through eBay. The expected delivery date was over a week ago (only shipping from NSW -> Queensland). I haven't received it yet so opened a non receipt case. I am not sure if this was the right thing to do or not. I thought it would just email them with my questions about tracking. I got this message back from the seller.

We have found a eBay non receipt case has been opened for your recent purchase of said SD card . Please be assured it is not necessary to open such a case because you can directly contact us and we will resolve the matter asap.

In general delivery can take around 3-11 working days. Hence for the time being we humbly request you to close the dispute case without hesitation and await delivery within the given time frame. Thank you.

I am assuming they are asking me to close it because it reflects badly on their profile? I didn't know it would show up. Ultimately if I close the case now, would I be able to open another later on or would eBay say no you already had a case but closed it?

Leave it open until you receive the item. Closing it would indicate to PayPal that you are happy with the transaction.

      Exactly what nocure said

      • Thanks for the update guys, much appreciated.

  • Did you contact them before you opened the case?

    • No, I thought that was the best way to contact them. As per OP I didn't know this would tarnish their account. I just wanted info on tracking as it was over a week late.

      Will know better next time

      • Just leave the case open, and you should explain to them what's going on. Otherwise, they might just refund you if they haven't sent it out yet.

It won't have any affect on their account once you receive your item and close the case…if you don't receive it at all then you can escalate the case further then the seller may receive a slap on the wrist.

How reputable is the seller?I would contact the seller first…They might offer you send another microSD..

You should always contact the seller first. I am speaking as a seller here.

I'd wait till the end of the week before doing anything else.

Was there tracking? Private message their facebook page they are really helpful.

  • You need to be aware that Aust Post is/ can be painfully slow of late. It's nothing for mail between NSW/Vic and Qld to take 3 weeks or thereabouts. As such, some of the estimated delivery dates within Ebay are literally impossible to be met. Be patient, but now that you have the case open, don't close it until you have received your item, because you won't be able to reopen if you need to.
