How to get the 4% back for Cashrewards?

Hey guys,

This is probably a really stupid question but I've had cash rewards for a while and the only time I have gotten any cash back was from gearbest and I've made quite a few ebay purchases in the mean time. Do you have to link your Ebay account or something in order for it to work?

Cheers!

  • You have to go directly to the store via cashrewards. You must have cookies enabled. Also; 'Another hint …interrupting your shopping session by closing the window, performing searches on other sites, clicking pop-ups, turning off cookies, visiting your social networking home page, and other sidetracks are examples of things to avoid that may mean that the recording process is disrupted and you may not receive your Cashback'.

    • Thanks mate,
      One more thing, is there anyway to know before you purchase that you will receive the cashback or do you simply:

      1. Go to cashrewards
      2. Click Ebay
      3. Find the item you want
      4. Purchase it as normal

      Just wanna make sure as I'm about to purchase a gopro :)

        That's exactly it. Essentially Cashrewards puts a tracking cookie on that session but otherwise you just use ebay like normal.

    • Agreed.

      What I usually do when I use cashrewards is to add everything to my cart (on eBay, Dan Murphy's etc) first then exit the browser window completely. Open a new browser window and click through cashrewards to desired store then proceed to checkout.

      Haven't missed any tracking from these method and I've got >$500 in my account touch wood

    Make sure you turn off ad blockers too.

    One other tip I use is to add the items to your eBay cart then close your tab.
    Open a new tab, go to cashrewards and redirect to eBay, click your cart and pay.

    That way there's less navigating of pages for cashrewards to have to track and mess up.

  • This is the response I received when I inquired about a missing transaction; it's a useful list of the pitfalls to avoid:

    "We regret that your eBay transaction has not been recorded in your Cashrewards account. We can confirm that we have not received any information regarding this transaction from eBay and as a result, Cashrewards has not received any payment for your purchase. Regrettably, we are unable to process cash rewards to you and are sorry that we cannot provide good news on this occasion.

    eBay have told us that their tracking system is extremely accurate and unrecorded reward transactions are generally due to one of the following issues;

    • clicking on another link after clicking through from the Cashrewards link;
    • clearing your browser’s cookies;
    • having cookies disabled before buying an item;
    • going to eBay to make a purchase, then realising you did not enter through the Cashrewards link, re-entering eBay through Cashrewards and reattempting the purchase. In this instance, the sale will not be attributed to Cashrewards;
    • purchasing items from within your wishlist;
    • using a coupon code that did not originate on the Cashrewards website;
    • part or all of the purchase being returned, refunded or cancelled, or
    • Spyware, Adware or Adblock programs installed on your computer or corporate firewalls that block tracking cookies

    eBay’s decision is final and unfortunately, they will not investigate unrecorded transactions when queried. Please see the store page for more information.

    I think I may have had the item I purchased already in my wishlist prior to linking through Cashrewards and therefore didn't qualify for cashback.

    Other than this particular time, I have been paid out on all the transactions that were tracked, so I am pretty happy with their service.

    • Thanks mate, I purchased a gopro earlier following these steps but i dont have any money in my cashrewards account, is there a delay?

      • I've never experienced a delay of more than a couple of days. If you haven't had an email notification past that point, it is likely it wasn't tracked.

        • Cheers for the info man i'll give it some time

      • My experience is it isn't a perfect system. I reckon I've made about 20 ebay purchases since the start of the month, and was very careful to give Cash Rewards the best chance to track the purchases. Even so, I still have 4 that haven't tracked so far. So I'd say it works about 80% of the time

    • Wishlist or watchlist? I had adblock enabled too :( I guess i just have to wait

  • Slightly off-topic, but was about to log-in to my CashRewards account to make use of the ebay 4% offer but Cashrewards site seems to be down. Anyone else experiencing this?

    Andrew here from Cashrewards, Site is down due to our big US Datacentre, Rackspace being down see https://status.rackspace.com/index/viewincidents?group=24

    Apologies to all and hope to be back live asap.

    • Has anyone received their cash rewards tracking notification from the most recent eBay good guys sale along with Cashrewards 4%? Cashrewards has always been pretty spot on however my last two purchases totalling near $3k has not been tracked yet. Purchases made on the 14/10 and the 19/10

  • I am fed up with cashrewards! The ebay purchases actually seem to track with no problem but every other store is a major drama. I need to lodge a claim with cashrewards every time in order to chase up my payment. Now I got an email from them saying that because it was more than 60 days since my purchase, I am out of luck and they are refusing to pay.

    I use ebates in the US for any purchases I make over there and have never had any problem.

  • I was going to sign up for cash rewards because I was buying a $35US smart tv box for my father, but I couldn't be bothered because the cashback would only be $1.20, seemed like too much effort for too little and I don't order online often anyway, maybe a small thing twice a year.

    • Did you know you can also save inn-store with discounts through Cashrewards on Woolworths gift cards currently 5.5% off groceries, liquor and petrol and also currently 8% off Big W gift cards which equate to big in-store savings on Apple gear, clothing, toy sale etc.

      • No I did not know that, that is pretty neat.
