Genuine S3 Replacement Battery Options/Recommendations

Hi everyone, I will need to downgrade(?) to my sisters old S3 because my Huawei Y550 ($40) is turning out to be a pain in the butt. Its a great phone for the price I paid but not good for more than a couple of months.

Anyway, I'm looking for a genuine S3 battery replacement that I can buy in-store preferably but if that's not possible then I'm willing to buy it online, I just need it as soon as possible.

I don't know too much about the technical info related to the battery so I'm depending on all of you to guide me to the best possible place to buy it from. I'm not too fussed about the price but I also won't pay more than $50 for it.

Thanks!

  • All I can say is good luck.
I doubt you'll find many places that have on in stock, let alone at <$50.

I'd be jumping on to eBay and sourcing a battery from a local seller.

  • Hmmm, how about asking Samsung service centre and whether they have one in stock?
I can't think of any place that'd still have S3 battery in stock…

  • +4

    Parramatta $20 : https://www.mobileciti.com.au/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-i9300-bat…
    (call before heading there)

    • ^ if you are in Sydney. Bought one from them for Galaxy Note 2.

      • +1

OP mentioned shopping at Blacktown in comments, figured Parra would be OK :)

        • Yupe, I must have missed that part :)

    • Thanks Battler! Parramatta is just a hop skip and a jump away! I did look at mobileciti first but i read a review where someone else bought the same thing and they weren't too happy with it. If its the only shop front though, I guess I don't have too much of a choice :s

  • OP I think I have a spare one laying around you could buy off me on the cheap?

  • I spent some time on eBay looking without success for a genuine S3 battery. Many of the feedback comments suggested they were fake regardless of the price range and sellers.

So I finally ordered a 3rd party battery for $6.99 AUD from HK. Four weeks later and I still don't have it (I did however manage to get a refund).

I guess my point is it seems to be hard to get the real thing and if you do find one it probably won't be cheap.

    EDIT: Go with battler's advice…

  • I did the same thing, just sold the Huawei Y550 and using my spare S3. Battery is half a day! Will need a new one soon.

    • factory reset is a great way to improve battery life on S3. I had one running at 1/2 day, factory reset and started getting a day again (with fewer apps loaded).

      • I think its because I'm running 5.1 Omni on it. I don't think its properly optimised.

  • Agreed with the above. I tried as well and what i got from the main results and proper looking via google were suspiciously non genuine. Even my laptop battery i rkn u need to get in when the products still in stock and not a yr or two old.

The one i ordered looked slightly diff to my original and battery died way too fast given how crap my original was and it was doing less. They luckily refunded me (not before paypal took its swipe of feees) before i even sent it back. Maybe they knew it was a fake? Ill never know.

Their reason being an old batteey sitting around would have diminished life due to this. But hey, if i pay and the 2 yr old battery performs like 2 years.old, surely that's not my problem?
