Kogan Portable Air Conditioners

Just received an email from Kogan regarding portable air conditioners.

3 different models from $249 to $349.

Does anyone have any experience with these portable units? Are they any good.

I only want a simple unit to put in my bedroom, so I figure the 12,000 BTU unit would meet my needs. With a long hot summer predicted, I need something to help me sleep on the really hot unbearable nights. Don't need to, nor could I afford to run it every night.

Other times I can manage ok, but I figure if I can get some sleep, I can manage the weather.

I have concerns about the window seal kit. I have emailed Kogan about the length of the window seal kit as it is not mentioned in their handbooks. I have an aluminium sliding window in my bedroom, with an external fly screen. Height of the window is just on 1500mm, which is quite large.

Any comments would be useful, particularly in regard to installation, and reliability.

  • Can you add a link to the airconds?
Generally I think vented portables work ok, I just got a small one 1.3kw, but waiting for summer to try.

    • +1

how about the energy efficiency ?

  • I have a Tango portable aircon and the window kit was pretty simple. There are two attachments depending on how you window worked (sliding horizontal or vertical) and the main part of the kit would extend if you had a taller window. Hopefully the Kogan kits are extendable otherwise that's going to be frustrating.

  • Are they split or just vented?

  • After umpteen emails to get an answer to a simple question, Kogan finally replied.

We can confirm the Kogan 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner (3.5KW, Reverse Cycle) has an adjustable window seal plate with the following measurements:

    Minimum: 67.5cm
    Maximum: 130.0cm

As my window is 150cm, their product is useless for me.
