    Would this work well on a Pentax K-x DSLR? The image quality I get with the kit lenses are pretty average but I guess that's expected from an entry level camera.

      Yes, this lens will work with the K-x. It will also work with every other Pentax Digital SLR - even the new full frame models when they are released.

          Yes, the optic quality of the 50mm 1.8 is much better. Generally fixed focal length lenses will outperform zoom lenses.

        The DA designation means it's for APS-C sized sensors, but there are some people posting online that say it covers a full frame sensor (or at least they tested it on an old Pentax film camera). Is there anything official from Pentax about this? Will there be substantial vignetting on full frame?

          You might be right. There are plenty of sites that identify it as a full frame lens (Ken Rockwell among others) but there is no information one way or the other on any of the Pentax sites.

      Yes! This is why you buy a pentax, because any k mount lens will work. Also consider the 50mm f1.4 which isnt much more money.
