Dyson V6 Animal Handstick Vacuum Cleaner

I've been trying to find a good deal on the V6 Animal since missing out on the previous group buy.

The best I've been able to work out is 10% off at Masters ($499 -> $449.10) and then pay with Woolworths e-Gift cards that can be bought for 5% off, resulting in final price of $426.65.

I would normally wait until a great deal hit, but the current vacuum said its last goodbye yesterday.

Does anyone have some other suggestions?

  • The Dyson V6 Motorhead is apparently supposed to be better than the Animal and can be had for $480 with the 20% off code: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dyson-209462-01-V6-Motorhead-Hand….

It says in the eBay description: 'Powered by the Dyson digital motor V6, the direct drive cleaner head has 75% more brush bar power than the Dyson V6 Animal'

Could be better bang for your buck if you are already spending that much money. Not completely sure how much better it is than the Animal though.

    • The MotorHead is apparently much better on carpets from the spiels the sales people have given, and the website - my main areas are floorboards, so it's neither here or there.

      • And apparently also has reduced battery life due to having to drive the additional motor in the head.

      • I did wish I bought the Absolute for ~$560 the other week, as I have mainly hard floors but after watching the hard floors demo in this video I'm pretty convinced on the Motorhead. (DC59 is the same as the V6 it was just rebranded) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HADwuvveQw (Around 9:20.)

The vid is from before the Fluffy head was released so they don't try and push you towards the Absolute.
Apparently they have carbon bristles on the Motorhead so it picks up dust easier as it breaks the static electricity holding it down, which nylon won't do, apparently. So it did have hardfloors in mind when it was released. I think it will suffice. Lots of people in Amazon reviews saying it works well on hardfloors too.

Plus its $454 after cashrewards. I'm still going to wait a few days in case another deal pops up before this one expires.

        • Animal has nylon and carbon fibre too - 1:40 mark http://youtu.be/wjn18XynIQc

The only difference is that the Powerhead is direct drive. This below is from a Forbes article.

What separates the Motorhead from Dyson’s DC59 Animal model is that it has a direct drive motor located inside the brush bar. Placing the motor in the brush bar provides better balance and weight distribution, and also enables the vacuum to deliver more power where it counts, resulting in 75 percent more power than the DC59 Animal.

  • Ahh ok I didn't realise the standard one did also, there probably is very little difference on hard floors then between the Motorhead and V6 then, apart from a slightly shorter run time when using the Motorhead brush bar.

I'm in the same situation now, I really need a vacuum too, I'd normally just buy what ever one was cheaper but they're both the same price at the moment. Too bad TGG don't have the Animal on their eBay store at the motor he decision would have been so simple.

  • +1

Ended up getting the Motorhead via TGG - it works very well on a rug and carpet in power mode, and does the floorboards well too.
