$350 for an entry level phone. That's outrageous. Pay another $100 for a G4 which runs circles AND CIRCLES around this phone.

If you are really tide on budget, get the sub $250 LG G2 on eBay.It still trumps through all these so called 'budget offerings' despite being 2 yrs old.

    • +1 even the 3rd gen with 2GB Ram now.

      • Yeah, the Snapdragon 400/410 is really struggling with Lollipop's UI. Hopefully, Marshmallow brings better experience. Otherwise I will avoid SD410 phones all together.

    • Where can you get the G4 currently for $450?

$350 is ridiculous for a phone with these kind of specs. Makes the zenfone 2 and those cheaper Chinese phones with mtk helio x10 chip look like bargains.

      • Not at this very moment but the eBay promo + 4% cashrewards cut it down to around $425 delivered last week.

        • Yeah I know I got my during ebay sale for $450. Still a good phone even at $500. I just bought a 6000 mAh battery for mine. :P

  • About a 100 more than it should be. Sorry but US 179 does not equal AUD 350 no matter how bad the conversation + taxes. 350 puts this into One Plus One/Nexus 6 territory, both of which are far greater phones for value.

    • +1

Its 219 USD. 179 is for the 8gb version.

Your other point is still valid though.

      • Ahh yes you are correct sir. Thanks! Completely forgot about capacity.

  • -3

Go rip off someone else lol.

    +1 for effort though.

    • Sorry guys but this is the pricing from Motorola Australia. Its what Australian warranty etc blah blah costs.
This is my personal option.. and nothing to do with Personal Digital in any way..

      • +1

        So this is the RRP?

What do you mean it's your personal option and nothing to do with Personal Digital?

  • +3

I thought this is new model just being released here. Good Guys is selling them for $369. So this is not a bad price.
Plus some people prefer the plain vanilla Android OS which will more likely to get updated than LG phones.

  • -1

I use a Moto G2 which is really good. However the pricing on G3 is way out of touch. LG G2 has a higher ppi (423) where as this is lower with 294. only 16Gb internal storage, i am struggling with 8GB to delete all the photos etc. I believe with the Marshmallow coming up, even 16gb will not be enough.

For all these price should have been around $250 mark. It can be argued its a bargain then, not now with this price level

    • LG G2 has a FHD screen + way better color reproduction, a Snapdragon 800 and OSI camera but would be stuck with Lollipop. And most importantly, it's $120 cheaper.

      • Where can you get LG G2 for $229?

        • There are plenty floating around on eBay (D800/D801/D802). You can do a quick research and find one that supports your network.

    • I agree with all of that however Marshmallow will fix the storage issue. As far as I am aware Android M properly supports SD storage and let's you install apps and let's apps write to it. So hopefully low storage on SD card phones will be a thing of the past.

  • Nice but i thought its a requirement in Australia to provide 2 years warranty?

    • -4

      hi,
the specific rule for 24 months is for carriers because they sell a 2 year plan, so the phone cannot be only 1 year warranty.

      Thanks

      • -3

Wrong. Guess you're part of the 85%.

        http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2013/11/most-electronics-stores…

Australian retailers can’t impose an arbitrary period on when warranty support is available — instead, goods are expected to operate for a reasonable length of time

It's reasonable to expect a $349 phone to last more than 12 months.

        • +2

Thats not our call, warranty is provided by Motorola Australia. So the "reasonable Amount of time" is decided by Motorola, Warranty is dealt with by them and not us. Yes we can accept the item back for warranty, as it says in that article( not refer you to the manufacturer), but all we can do is send it back to Motorola for repairs/ replacement. Yes they may accept it outside the 12 month period, but we cant be CERTAIN of it as we dont have it in writing.

We just pass on the Info given to us, Our hands are tied… i hope you understand.

I mean we cant write there 2 year warranty when the spec data sheet given to us by Motorola clearly says 12 months.

          @Chiraag:
Have you raised this with Motorola? What was their response? Ultimately you, as the retailer, has the responsibility to comply with consumer law. If your suppliers don't allow this, you shouldn't be selling their products. It's as simple has that. You can't pick and choose the laws your business follows.

        • +2

@PainToad: he is complying. what YOU need to do is go back and make sure you understand acl before you spout off about it.

        • +1

          @EVL:
thanks for the support..i was getting hammered here.. only to bring you guys the cheapest price on this item with local warranty.

nevertheless we have had some sales for this item .. so thank you for the support

        • @Chiraag: It is most definitely not up to Motorola to dictate terms for statutory warranty. If they want to insist it is, they might want to look at the HP ruling where part of the $3million fine was precisely for stating that they do. You also should be careful of making statements like you have here, now that you have made it a public record.

          https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/hp-to-pay-3-million-fo…

        • @Major Mess: its a 12 month manufacturers warranty, has sfa all to do with statutory warranties.

  • I would tread softly on this one - read through the thread at http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2433963
Most of the dissatisfaction in descending order appears to be:
    1. The ongoing "soon to be released Australian version of the Moto G 3rd (2014) generation. "Soon to be released" has so far been going for at least 3 months well after the Moto G 2nd Gen (2014) was discontinued.
    2. There are also traps with the importing of overseas models and the incompatibility of 3G and LTE bands for OZ.
    3. The loss of the LED notification light and the loss of the Compass for Off line maps.
    4. The price has jumped at least $100 over the G2 (2014).

    • Just a word to everyone here.
Is there a phone you guys really want?? ( Australian stock) and at a specific price.. Please be Reasonable, and IF we have a group of 10 or more, PD will try to get you guys a GROUP/ special deal on it.

Does that sounds good to anyone?

      Please be Reasonable of course.

I hope i dont break any OZB rules by posting this :)

      thanks

      • Looking over Mobileciti's past deals done with Tightarse will give you an idea.

      • Why we all comment negative on this phone and this deal is because it is not bargain. It was an advertisement from you. This is the price that you got from Motorola and advertised here.Where is the bargain in this post?. Defintiley not with this Phone at this price.

I guess, what ever phone you get, if its reasonable in specs and features and has a special or discounted deal, people will buy it.

      • I would really like the dual sim version of the moto x play. Ticks all my boxes in terms of size, battery capacity, performance, Aus LTE bands incl Band 28

I'm finding it quite difficult to source the dual sim version. Vodafone appear to have exclusive rights to the single sim version, which Kogan have also just started selling.

        What can you do?

  • -3

$20 off RRP is not a bargain.

  • +5

I voted positive… This phone has literally only just been released and discounts are rare on a new release phone.

This handset is quite a nice device, dual sim, latest 4G bands, has water and dust resistant and is pretty much vanilla android experience. Considering the Australian dollar ATM, yes it is more expensive than Gen 1 and 2 at release date.

I would certainly personally consider this handset closer to the $300 mark though.

  • Is this indian version Dual Sim XT1550?

    • this is NOT the Indian version, it is the Australian version but still is XT1550 and is DUAL sim.

      Thanks

  • NO NFC!!!!!!!

  • I suppose it's okay for a dual sim phone

  • no 5GHz WiFi = no interest

  • Hi OP,

Just wondering if I can locate this product from your eBay store? FYI, I have tried several times with no luck. Just in case I might be missing something. Thanks.

  • +2

Great deal. You haters should STFU. If you dont like the phone dont look but for those that do its a good price for a phone that is hard to get at the moment. Also Promo code OFFEROCT1 for another $10 OFF. Thanks for the post Chiraag. Some clowns cant be pleased and simply trawl the site thinking they have some sort of ownership.
