Would You Spend Extra $$$ Just to Get The 4c Fuel Voucher?

Hey guys came across this situation and i was wondering if i am the only one who does this…
[1]So i did my usual grocery shopping at my local woolies, and the total came in at $29.47… so i told the cashier to wait a sec while i went to grab a lollypop so it could cost over $30 so i can get the 4 cent fuel voucher….

[2]Also another situation is when the total is $60, i will ask the cashier to do 2 separate receipts, $30 each so i can get 2 4 cent fuel discount vouchers….

Just wondering am i the only one who does this? i would love to get all yous thoughts about this :) Thanks!

Recently discovered that my RAC card gives me 4cent discount at the coles pump…so am not going to bother about spending more than $30 to earn that 4cent in future….

    • Is this in all states?

      • thanks jeeg but looks like WA only this time.Wow…winner!!! T&C

    • Just curious, is there any reason people are still joining RACs? I used to have a membership for the times when I needed help with car trouble. But with my car insurance nowadays, I get free roadside assistance.

  • Stopped being Woolies Pavlov's and filled up in Coles Shell nowadays.
$20 in store purchase = 10 cents instant savings, ie $5+ savings on one tank vs just $2+ on a tank.

Shake hands…wave….here's your treat. Thanks but no thanks.

Using woolies wish cards I spend zero in store and get my 5% off petrol, around 6-7c off per litre. So much better than than trying to spend heaps at a petrol station goods

  • I buy 5 litre of milk when I fill the petrol to top the discount to 8c/L with my woollies fuel voucher. Woolworths milk is the same price in servo as the supermarkets.

I do keep track of my trolley total in my head when I do grocery shopping. If I am a little bit away from $30 spend, I have a look at their specials and see what I can stock up on. It doesn't make sense to pay full price on something to get the 4c voucher which normally saves me less than $2 at the pump.

That's also one of the reasons why I like their self checkout. I can put through my groceries as 2 separate transactions myself if I do get over $60. And don't forget to use the 5% off egiftcard at both the supermarket and the petrol station. And also collect QFF points.

  • I do that tooooo!

BUT THE WORST THING EVER IS I ALWAYS LOSE MY RECEIPTS :( So I usually end up not using the voucher….

if its woolies get an everyday rewards card…. no more reciepts

  • Work fuel card means I don't bother…

But even then, how often have you seen queues out the door for servo's offering 4c off, compared to the servo down the road that might be an extra 5c/L after the voucher. Ever sit there and do the maths and work out what your time is worth? Ever see people queuing for their 'cheap' fuel, voucher in hand, only to put in $30 fuel?
