My experience with Vodafone in Turkey

Just came back from Turkey and wanted to share my experience with Vodafone there.

In brief (profanity) vodafone and try to avoid it no matter which country.

We arrived at 1 am and needed sim card Vodafone was the only open store and signed up 4gb plus bonus 2gb prepaid service.

All went well until Internet stopped just after 2.3gb use.

Tried to call Vodafone support and was told i had insufficient credit to make the call. How (profanity) up is it that you need to pay to speak to your service provider for help.

I went to a Vodafone branch and asked for support as to why Internet stopped and the current usage,  they

Said they couldn't help and won't let me use their phone either,  I tried to explain the situation they didn't want to help. I said what do i need to do,  was told to recharge with credit then call,  I agreed to it paid for recharge then i still couldn't call.  I asked how come i still can't call they said I've recharged with 100 mins call credit which can't be used to call Vodafone support so I said then why did you sell me the credit,  i was told the wrong one was sold to me and i need to pay for different credit. Couldn't berefunded either.

I got pissed off by this time and said i don't have much time just recharge with data please as i had enough. I paid 4gb data then 1 hour later it still didn't work. They recharged again with another 4gb still didn't work,  they complained saying network was slow.

I took the sim card out broke it then threw it.  Next day went to Turkcell similar to Telstra here,  after 5 minutes i was online.  4 gb lasted me 4 gb. Coverage was great and fast.

Never again here in Australia or overseas, Vodafone will not get any of my business and ill make sure my friends and family don't either.

    Soooo…how was your trip ?

  • Did you return some slaps to Vodafone in Turkey?

Too many crooks in the outside world would only acknowledge you when they receive benefit or money from you.

  • Did you know China is divided into 'States'? As you cross these states, your SIM no longer works.
I found this out 4 SIM cards later with apparently the best provider, China Unicom. Despite all these "80% of people speak English!" stats it's entirely BS. I'd go days without speaking to anyone. Had someone explained it earlier we'd have known, was only in Shanghai where the situation was explained.

Yes, in a foreign country it can be a total pain in the ass. What they consider "normal" you consider complete insanity.

I would expect VF turkey and VF-AU to be completely separate entities.

    • Sure, but you can expect VodaFail whereever you go.

I understand Vodafone have signed a deal with TPG Telecom and now Kogan.

I thought TPG would know better and Kogan would have learned after ISPone but apparently not.

  • Turkey is beautiful, worth going. While there visit other European countries like Italy, Spain, Greece as they are not far. Because going to Turkey can take nearly 30 hours including stop overs.

    • isn't Turkey a dangerous place to visit? its near Syria and Iraq isn't it?

So you had problems with Vodafone Turkey and now you are going to make sure all your friends and family don't use Vodafone Australia either. lol

it may seem strange, but this is what a brand/goodwill is. customers do not care about where it happens, it is the brand and whole experience that they associate with.

You should have activated Vodafone $5 roaming here in Oz. And why are you moaning about Turkey? It sounds like you annoyed the salesperson and they screwed you over which is precisely what I would do with annoying idiots.
