Jetstar = No Price Beat Honouring?

Heyo OzBargain peopleeeee,

Sooooo, yesterday I was in a chat room price matching with the 10% price beat system they have with the Tiger Airlines sale for a one way, Melbourne to Sydney. HOWEVER, the chat room automatically closed as I went to go get a glass of water, which was seriously not long. Basically, I have a log of the chat, however when I spoke to the representative and showed evidence that it had been CONFIRMED that my tickets were to be at THAT price, they did not honour it any longer due to the sale ending last night. Basically, they won't honour something they AGREED to yesterday, WITH evidence (chat log). I kind of wonder what else I can do.

    To be blunt, although i sucks, i don't think you can do anything now.. I suppose you can try twitter or facebook post or something. Don'tget your hopes up though.

  • There was a crazy tiger sale last month and they only had 200 seats for the $20 price which were selling fast. I just booked on Tiger rather than trying to wait ages on the Jetstar web chat. In my experience Jetstar will only beat the price if their agent can confirm the competitors price at the time when you (eventually) get to chat to them. There were a few times when the cheap price for the flight I wanted sold out in the meantime so I had to change to a different time or date.

    But having said that, as it seems there was a technical issue and the chat ended, maybe if you're persistent you can get a favourable outcome.     For Jetstar price beats we always just call up. They also take credit card over the phone with no surcharge.

      I don't think you can call them up anymore. They changed their policy, it has to be via web chat now pretty sure. However, they still take credit cards with no surcharge.

    • Last time I tried over the phone they said it was only done via the live chat now.

  • Two things - firstly I think it depends what time you call - as Live Chat might not be available 24/7. Secondly for the price beat your booking has to be made more than 72 hrs before flying out or they cannot honour the price. This happened to me recently and I could only get 1 way price beat.
