Dyson V6 Animal, Motorhead or Absolute

Hi guys,

So I hesitated and missed out the V6 Absolute that was on the TGG eBay 20% off deal. (It was on there briefly, then it got taken off).

Anyways, so what's everyone's view on:

  • V6 Animal
  • V6 Motorhead
  • V6 Absolute

I am now tempted to get V6 Animal, its currently on sale pretty much everywhere for $497-$499. Not much of a sale if everywhere has it around that price imho.

  • V6 motorhead; have read in quite a few forum that due to the direct-drive tech, the battery last about 3-4 mins less than the promised 20mins. Not sure if 75% more suction and 4mins less is worthy of that $100 more than V6 animal.

  • V6 absolute - wanted this, but not sure if I should really burn all that money on this, since I am moving and need to buy all the white goods, furniture, etc.

  • For V6 animal $499, do you think I should just take the deal and walk away with it, or do you think I should wait for a little bit more for another sale? What is the current cheap price? I have seem it for around $397 and $404; what's the chance for such deal/s to come around in the next month or so?

  • V6 animal vs motorhead - what's your view? Which would you get? Why?

  • V6 absolute - we currently do not have a vacuum of our own - the place we rent has it, when I move I will need a vaccum. How much would you pay for it? (Legit answer pls, no trolling! :))

THANK IN ADVANCE.

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH OZBARGAINER!

  • Motorhead or Absolute

ace of spades or vodka, hmmmmmm tough choice

    • hahaha :(

If money isn't an issue, then I would buy the absolute! Consider the price is good. lol. TGG had it for $559.20, but my partner said that's too pricey, even though we are going half. By the time we finally agreed to buy it, the deal got pulled lol. OH WELL!!

  • It's the head. Whether you do carpet or hard floor etc.

I would wait for another deal, given the V6 was down to $350 less than a month ago.

    • Checkout ur user name! I approve

Hahaha, yeh, I think both motorhead and animal does hard and soft floor, with one being more powerful on carpet.

Absolute looks like a nice thing to have, if its $559.20 - i would pull the trigger without thinking! lol.

I probably should wait, but imagine missing out on another sale! D: ARGH! tearing hair

      DECISIONS DECISIONS!

      • They all do both types of floor, just the more expensive version got specialised head that does a better job. Having said that, even the basic V6 does a much better job than any other vacuum cleaners!

Another option is buy a model that is on sale, then buy the specialised head when there is a discount - I bought a tumble free head with 20% off good guys ebay deal. Just make sure you do your research beforehand to see if you can buy the specialised head separately and if it will be a good deal.

        • Thanks! Yeh I was thinking of buying the DC45. But partner didn't like how it's a v2 not a v6. Hahaha. :(

Not too desperate but yeh, I guess I probably should just wait and pray that good thing comes to people who wait. :D fingers crossed

  • +1

I also was after the Absolute, but since it wasn't available choose the motorhead as our house is 90% carpet. The only hard floor is in the kitchen and the motorhead does that fine (I think it would actually annoy me to have to change heads). I've found it changes the way we vacuum, instead of doing the whole house in one hit, we tend now to do just the living areas at one time, and the bedrooms at another. The reason for this is it is just so damm convenient to grab it off the charger bracket, quickly use it and put it back. The mindset has become, "I've got a spare 2 minutes, might just run the vac over the livingroom", then you put it back. Everyone I know that owns one does the same thing, they vacuum less but more often… if that makes sense.

The upshot of all this, is that the shorter run time of the Motorhead hasn't really mattered.

    • Thanks for that! Would still ask have you ever done a full cycle - and how long does it last? Partner thinks that 4mins less affects the buying decision! (fair enough, v6 animal is currently $497-499, motorhead is currently $599)

Our place will be pretty much 50/50 wooden floorboard and carpet.

Lucky you though, motorhead was on TGG eBay for a nice price! Kinda kicking myself right now. :(

  • I Bought the Absolute as soon as it came out, and paid the full $799 for it. But must say very happy with it.
I always use it with the MAX button, and I get continuous use of about 15 min….
So you do change the way you vacuum, I do smaller areas at a time but more frequently….
    The only down sides are
    - long time it takes to recharge 4-5 hrs
    - empting the dirt canister, often requires you to use your hands to pull out dirt…..

But beats using the old fashioned plugged in vacuum on wheels. I have a large 2 story house and the V6 Absolute is all we need….

    • Oh woah, that's good to hear!

Partner couldn't justify paying $699 (the current price)

Gonna have to wait for another sale. Hopefully absolute will be part of the sales deal too, or I would also be pretty happy with Animal. :D

Hurry and do another dyson sale… someone! :( hahaha.

  • Whatever you choose don't feel bad grabbing two https://www.bigw.com.au/product/contempo-2-in-1-stick-handhe… at $30 each so $60 total from your local Big W or get it delivered.

I have these and they are perfect.. little numble 600 watt corded but light vacuum cleaner.. sucks most things for a simple clean then you can switch to your Dyson when you decide on a proper vacuum when you have the money to decide on one.
