What's the difference (if any at all?) between TM Lewin shirts and Charles Tyrwhitt, in terms of quality, fit, etc?

Also how non-iron is their non-iron range, does anyone know? Sorry if this is a silly question, I'm still fairly new to the working world and am still wearing stuff from Oxford, which I've been told I need to upgrade on!

In terms of fit, they both have different ranges from regular fit to super fitted so there's bound to be on to fit you. In terms of quality, I've stopped buying TM Lewin as I much prefer CT's non-iron range, however haven't tried TM Lewin's non-iron shirts. CT shirts also come with collar stiffeners which is a bonus.

re non-iron. I bought some about a year ago and still haven't ironed them once (average use: biweekly). And I'm not even that great at taking them straight out of the washing machine to hang up. Highly recommend.

      • thanks for the note! bought :)

Very good price. I decided to use these shirts for me and the groomsmen. Tried them on at Myer (where RRP is $80-$95) and order off TM Lewin website for approximately $60 each. Also asked nicely via chat for delivery to be waived ;)

Decided on these as my groomsmen are of different shapes and sizes so some went for regular fit and others fitted.

They also have a store on King Street Sydney which had a sale on when I went, from memory it was 4 shirts for $200, but I had already ordered and received my shirts by then.

Edit: I do have CT Shirts also, I like how the fitted style of TM Lewin shirts is more slim fit compared to super slims at CT (didnt try on the super fitted TM Lewin shirts as I needed shirts with double cuffs which they do not come in).

      • CT has changed. I can't even fit into their new extra slims. I had to get an exchange.

CT >>> TM Lewin in terms of quality….you can pretty much always find URLs/codes to bring CT down to $40 a shirt (delivered).

Both non-iron ranges still need a short iron in my experience.

I actually think the Lewin shirts are better quality that the CT shirts. I've got non-iron of both and much prefer the fit on the Lewin's too.
I normally go for the John Francomb Lewin shirts, which are better again.
Either way, their non-iron range is definitely worth it.

      • I didnt realise the john francomb lewin ones are a different version. Thats the ones i tried on and bought.

        • Yep they're also on sale

Put me down in the pro-CT shirt category as well

      Bought about 10 recently

All great quality and about 6 are non-iron

If you hang them straight from washing - I find about half are actually non-iron and half require a quick once over - but still easy iron.

    EXCELLENT FIND!

If anyone likes the super fitted range from TM Lewin (RRP $90) then this is an absolute bargain!

    • Thanks, my contact has told me that these kind's of corporate deals will be coming out more often and across their range.

How do these fit for the more "muscular" man? Normally a XXXL in Target shirts

    • +3

I'd suggest going down to a store and trying some shirts on.

If you're not near a TM Lewin store, Myer stock their range.

        Thanks :-)

      • Myer don't have them

  • Delivery??

    • +1

      No free delivery

      • so it should read $40 PLUS shipping

Delivery seems to be $25 to AU - regardless of qty.
Also, you can pay $25 to pick up from one of their AU stores … Real bargain, that :)

What's with the shipping? $10 for 1-2 shirts, $25 for 3+?? Sooo I guess I'll be splitting my purchase into 2 orders then.

Not sure why people rave on about these shirts. Got some in the last sale and they are eternally creased. I can iron one and then by the time you put it on, sit down and get back up, it looks like i just rolled down a hill. One of the shirts even feels like paper. These might have been respectable shirts at some point but it looks like they are just cheap outsourced crap with a brand name.

    • Pure cotton shirts are naturally more prone to creases compared to poly blends.

With plain cotton shirts, the biggest factor I say is the weave of the cloth the shirt is made off.

I suspect the stupidly wrinkly ones you have are the solid colour plain weave/poplin shirts which are as easily wrinkled as you can get. Twill weaves like herringbones are more resistant against wrinkles, so are those made with oxford cloths. All of these types of weaves produce varying levels of texture and wrinkle resistance.

      • Good to know, I believe you are correct about the poplin one. It's like wearing a shirt made of baking paper.

Folks, the non-iron shirts contain a plastic coating which releases formaldehyde.

  • Hmmm.. Their shop it literally across the street from my office. Might have to have a look at their stock.

Can someone tell me what super fitted is, should I go that or slim fit?
