    dont buy it.
i bought a swann item off DSE 3 weeks ago and am STILL waiting for it to be delivered.

DSE is selling alot of swann stock that isnt actually in stock.

Quality of these systems are rubbish, faces illegible and night vision useless. I had mine removed and replaced with a much better HD IP NVR system. Okay if you only want to see a general view of what's happening in a monitored area but don't rely on it for clear facial/number plate recognition.

Correct. You are much better spending a little extra and getting a proper HD system. I have 2 setups with Hikvision NVR and 3 megapixel Cameras and works fabulously. There are even more expensive system but I got both from Aliexpress.

The Hikvision system is excellent, I use that at my holiday house alerts are good. At home I'm using an AVTECH system with one 5MP PTZ and five 2MP 70m IR Domes.

        • Would you recommend this Hikvision system for a commercial building that needs external monitoring?

        • @yoyomablue: The Hikvision is a great low cost option, but for monitoring purposes in a commercial environment AVTECH would be a better option. They have a really good CMS interface which links to a control room or for off site monitoring purposes. Budget for your cameras first and don't skimp on quality. A good system will cost $1500+ for 4 cameras.

What do you think about the Swann 1080 HD system?
          http://www.swann.com/au/swdvk-846008

I can eliminate the majority of the outside lighting issue at night by having movement activated lighting

          Thanks in advance

  • And I would absolutely not recommend this for a business, this is not a high resolution system! LOL

  • This 720p system was $599 recently. Hang around and it'll be half price again I'd guess.

  • Would of been better if 1080p power over ethernet version

  • drug dealer security system.
no one needs that many cameras

    • corner block houses can use a lot of cameras to cover all the blind spots

  • I was looking at this before. It's actually $479 if you use the coupon CLEARANCE50 and "8x 960H cameras" makes no sense. These cameras are 650 TVL and the box itself is an 8ch 960H DVR.

  • invest in the POE NVR setup and you can thank me after the install..

    • So many choices

  • Could someone please tell me how much would it cost for the installation and any recommended person in Sydney/Blacktown ?

About half a days work for a sparky $300-$500 depends on how many stories roof access slab or raised floor etc. Also depends where you want the cameras mounted. It's not hard to hook up its just running a lead point to point easy enough with yellow tongues just run it through the eaves and down a cavity to the room you want the DVR to sit. Just be careful most leads generic coax and power are ONE WAY so make sure you run the lead with correct ends at each point. Use tape tie the coax and power to the yellow tongue and push it through the eaves or if single story just go in the roof and do it it's not a hard job just takes time.

If you can hold off and wait to get a proper security system you'll be much happier with the result.

      • Thank you cm1505 for the info.
