Like many I bought a Media Tab7 I don't need! I decided to give it to a friend purely for watching movies on a plane. I installed MX Player (& what I thought was the right codec package).Now it has no sound, in any app including music etc. Any ideas, can't find anything on the net? Thanks

Yeah I did.
Also tried the aio.1.7.32.zipNotifications & alarms work. So its not hardware. Just no sound for movies/music. In gallery. Also tried VLC
Did you double check if the media volume is set to 0? Not sure if it applies to Huawei tablets, but when pressing the volume button, you can change the volume for ringtones, notifications, media, and system.
Yep. Checked in app & Android settings
I installed Sound About App. Forced sound output to speaker. It didn't work initially, but about a minute later tablet started playing music (was running in background). If I select 'let app decide sound output" it doesn't work. However, I just forced stopped sound about (as its only a trial version) & the sound still works…Mystery! But works :)
..until I restart. No sound again without activating Sound About first. There must be a way without Sound About always running? Any ideas?
Tried a factory reset yet?
I assumed you uninstalled it? Try diceplayer.
