Any foundation/cheap AnytimeFitness memberships going around?

Hey guys,

Went down to my local anytime fitness looking for just your simple local 24/7 gym membership with no extra fat. Unfortunately the gym manager was giving me the hard sell and refused to give me a good deal. What they offered.

$15.95/pw for 12 months
$99 joining fee
$65 24/7 key fob

Now i know anytime fitness gyms give you a worldwide membership, but im just looking at a local and my budget is $600/pa and willing to pay upfront.

Since they were not willing to deal with me i just thought ill go around to any other gym in the country and join up with them to just use the membership at my local gym. Essentially a free money for your gym and i wont even use your facilities.

PM me if you need to hit your monthly membership targets or just want to help a fellow Ozbargainer!

  • Couple of things to be aware of with what you plan to do:
Firstly i believe it takes 30 days from signup for your card to allow access to other anytime fitness gyms, so in this time you can only use the one you signed up at.
Secondly, if you predominantly use a different gym to the one you signed up at they will transfer you over to that one and charge you at the new rate.

(Was planning on doing the same, and that's what the one i was going to sign up at told me)

  • No way!?

i was aware of the 30 days but did not know they could change my rate after signing a contract. How sure are you of this?

I feel so cheated because my local anytime fitness is just a small piece of shit gym and they want me to pay the same price as a 1/2 acre gym with a dedicated training room and awesome showers.

I just want to use a treadmill, do some squats and a few free weights.

    • I wouldn't take what i wrote as gospel, but it's definitely what they told me.

    • Membership gets transferred if you predominantly go to another club over a certain period of time but fees do not change. Happened to me twice as I've had to move for work.

    • what you can do is pay upfront for the whole year

      • Yes i have offered but they declined to give me any type of discount.

        • i mean pay upfront at another anytime who is willing to give you discount

  • $15.95/pm for 12 months

I assume you mean per week

Essentially a free money for your gym and i wont even use your facilities.

I'm the same, but I understand how they wouldn't just believe people who say that.

    Maybe give SnapFitness a try.

  • Not sure where you are located, but at lawnton in qld there is a gym called spectrum and it's about 500-600 a year but part of that can be claimed back on your tax because it's a charity run gym ( they help out people with disabilities), I think it's nearly half of its that you can claim. Might be something like that in your area.

  • Unfortunately i am only interested in AnytimeFitness because its in my building and is the most convenient.

    Located in Melbourne CBD

  • Maybe wait around for promotions? They do them from time to time. I'm also fairly certain most gyms waive the joining fee to persuade you to join? Correct me if I'm wrong!

Also, check out Gumtree. I'm not too sure how good the rates are, but I see people trying to transfer their gym memberships there all the time.

    • Im actively keeping an eye on their facebook page, subscribed emails and what not. Was just hoping to get something sooner then later.

  • Do you have a Jetts in your area?
They have a yearly membership for $549 (+ $59 access pass = $608.00, you might be able to get them to do it for $600, or just live with the extra $8)
They also charge you a 'Joining fee' but they do have a 'No joining fee' promotion a few times throughout the year, which should be happening again sometime soon (Infact I received an sms about my local club having a no joining fee promotion very soon)

Edit: Never mind, just saw your comment about only wanting to go to 'AnytimeFitness'

    • Id love to consider another gym but due to the fact that anytime fitness is located inside my building. For convenience purposes i will only consider them.

  • I joined the closest anytime fitness to my work as a foundation member about 1 1/2 years ago.

to be honest, I don't think your deal is that bad considering

    I'm paying 14.85/ week

and I also paid 60 for the badge. They waivered the joining fee

Had used it all over Sydney, interstate and overseas.

I suppose what you are paying for is the convenience as you can use any gym in their network.

I don't think you'll find a better deal in this network unless you get a few more people to join with you and see if you can negotiate a better rate and make sure to ask them to waive the joining fee as many other gyms waiver that anyways

  • maybe ask at work (not the gym) if the gym does any discounts for tenants in the same building?

  • Would you consider Plus Fitness 24/7 at all? Sorry, it sounds like you wouldn't but now I cannot delete my post.

  • I'm interested too, but for Sydney. Is there a web page where we can keep track of announcements as described by OP?
