Comfortable Shoe Brands for The Poor?

I was at Rivers today eyeing the $25 shoes that are fairly comfortable. But online, the reviews for their shoes are absolutely terrible. Apparently they are biodegradable? I was wondering if anyone knew any other brands that sell comfortable shoes at a reasonable price. I'm not doing great financially. My feet bleed and blister though wearing cheap Kmart shoes (I've thrown away a few…). I guess I would like an insole of some type… I have no idea how people wear thongs, sandals and flats that are like a piece of cardboard on the ground? I'm not too fussed on style as I reckon I can get the shoes to fit my clothes. I'm not looking for runners though as I can't wear those at work or in a dress/skirt.

I know the comfortable brands are like Hush Puppies, Naturalizer, Ecco, Diane Ferrari, Merrell and so on but they are like $100 - $250 for a pair which I cannot do even if you do tell me they last however many years.

besides places like payless, have you tried outlets such as shu-way (heidelberg/doncaster) and shu-mart (glenhuntly)?

Or try the large outlet places for last seasons branded shoes.

Have you thought about buying good gel insoles? One's that you can remove, wash and reuse. Also wear thicker socks.

I got hush puppies for 50 bucks at the shoe warehouse at dfo

They always have sales on hush puppies, but their style is usually very blocky. But comfortable!

Also check Myer and David jones when they have sales, they do have hush puppies and sometime if your lucky you can get them at reduced prices.

OH! I FORGOT ABOUT THAT PLACE. I've been there once. I'll have a look, I remember seeing a heap of Hush Puppies for like $40 - $80! Thanks *__*

  • Go to Paul's Warehouse and search the buy 1 get 1 free shoes. You might find some black shoes that are suitable for work for around $100-$120 for 2 pairs.

  • I've been wearing a pair of rivers work shoes for the past 3 months or so,they are actually very comfortable for me. The only issue is the inside of the shoe is red and it stained my white socks when I wear them :(

    • I bought some fashion boots like 6 months ago and wore it everyday for like a few months (before I realised I shouldn't be wearing fashion boots at my workplace). They weren't 'comfortable' per se, but didn't hurt my feet. It's why I didn't mind the cheapness of Rivers. It's actually comfortable, I don't know if they will last the year though. If they do last 1 year, I would say for $25 it's okay value.

i am a big fan of naturalizer. and yes I agree they are expensive. but from my experience its one or the other. cheap means you have to sacrifice on comfort and vice versa. I normally will shop in factory outlet to find any naturalizer or crocs brand. crocs can go as low as 30 bucks as long as you don't fuss about the style and they are so comfy and last ages. also if there is one particular style which I like and its not on sale at the store, I will try to find it online. most online store will give you something like welcome credit which is better than no discount at all.

if you based in Melbourne here is the crocs store which I found always have big bargain:

Go to the outlet places; especially when they have one of their sales on. You can usually get some good deals for things like hush puppies. Also, it might sound a bit icky, but you could look at the Op shops; sometimes people throw out perfectly good quality shoes because they don't like the style anymore. Often these things are barely worn.
