Are there burgers decent? Especially given the average one cost about $10/11

      they're OK.

The McDonald's Create Your Taste range is better value IMO

      • Well, no.

      • No way, Burgerfuel is much better than McDonalds, how can you really compare the two though, they are in a completely different market. burgerfuel is more comparable to Grilld, batch and other premium locations.

        • i referred to the Create Your Taste range, which is the 'gourmet' range maccas is running. Don't be too quick to judge.
@ $7-9 a burger is comparably cheaper than the $11-13 burgers at burger fuel.

@markis: you know what I didn't think I'd say this, but I agree. I prefer McDonald's CYT (coming from somebody who doesn't like normal McDonald's burgers).

I'd probably compare burger fuel to grill'd but doesn't quite hit the nail with taste. The fries I had from there were awful.

          @markis:

Yes i know you refered to create gourmet range. Im just not a believer that McDonalds is able to do as good as the premium burger shops such as Burger Fuel. McDonalds still are selling the original microwaved food on the menu, and the atmosphere has not changed from before the create gourmet range was introduced.

With the posted deal for Burger Fuel, this brings down the price to much less than the create gourmet range, so it looks like a very good deal, or great value compared to the create price. $5.50-$6.50 each at Burger Fuel vs $7-$9 acording to your figures if you are buying two burgers, and this is substantially less for better quality and atmosphere.

Regarding comments on Grilld, unfortunately it seems that some franchises are not as good as others. From one Grilld store such as Macquarie Shopping Centre, they always taste good and the store is always nice to visit. Cant say the same for one of the other stores, the taste is inconsistent and not like a premium burger at all.

    • Amazing.

  • Why are there so many 'gourmet' burger places these days?

    • +8

      People like burgers.

    • Great margins for using the idea of gourmet or organic

I personally prefer the good ol' 'milkbar' style burgers that the corner shop used to sell. Fond afterschool memories :3

Fish n chips with the smell of butchers paper

  • These guys were every where in NZ when I was there on holiday. Not bad. Rates somewhere in between Burger edge and Grill'd IMO.

    • Yes they started in nz, have been there for well over a decade. Epic burgers, second only to fergburger.

I had them when I went to Auckland first and became a huge fan. Personally I'd rate these burgers better than grilld or burger edge.
The flavours are pretty amazing, the sweet potato fries are tasty and the burger and the service is top notch. I've never tasted lettuce that fresh and crispy on a burger like this before.

Too bad there aren't any stores in Vic. When I visited the gc, I went out of my way to eat here. Highly recommended, 10/10 would eat again.

  • This place is clearly struggling in a market dominated by Grill'd, Burger Urge and Burger Edge. Their only point of difference is the organic ingredients they claim to use. Worth a try for something different.

    • The one I go to is always busy. Whereas the Grill'd across the road is always 3/4 empty.

      • Maybe it is the constant 2 for 1 deals this place has… People are very price sensitive these days even in the niche gourmet burger market.

I remember Grill'd used to have 2 for 1 deals which would appear on Ozbargain quite regularly. Haven't seen one in ages.

        • entertainment book comes with a number of them

        • Think it's more that local Grill'd is terrible. Chips always soggy and meat over cooked.

The best part about Burger Fuel? No hipster staff (profanity).

    • Last time i checked the share price of BurgerFuel was doing very well on the NZ stock exchange. They could not be struggling that much, although they are probably doing much better in NZ.

      • Yeah they dominate the NZ market but have only recently entered the Australian market in the past 5 years. Australia is a more saturated market so they are still getting there.

I love Burger Fuel. I really wish they'd open a Melb store D:

I remember these guys from my USYD days, they made really good burgers, but it has been ages…maybe it is time to return.

    • I'm at USYD but I haven't been! Haha, now I want to go!

Only up the road, if they are as good as they used to be it will be worth the walk. Bring a mate and share the 2-for-1 offer.

  • anyone actually used the voucher yet?

    • +1

Used it last night for Dinner! Worked like a charm, dinner for two sorted for $13.90 :)

      • Did you just show them the screen saying thats on the link? No bar code or anything else?

        • +1

I actually printed it out but yeah, the guy just read through it and said, "okay, which burger would you like to order?". I did tell him that I received this in my email to make it look more legit. There is an option down the bottom that says, "send to a friend".
